The HIV medication they are on is stopping replication of the virus (which we've seen it do in quite a few CoV cases that have been treated with HIV medication). or 2. They actually have immunity because of the similarity between HIV and part of the CoV virus. Ironically, because both will kill you. Alrighty, I looked further into it. People in Africa with AIDS are still getting COVID while people in Thailand are not. This might be more to do with treatment (I'm betting people in Thailand have better access to antiviral medication) than the virus itself. So, my theory is learning more towards #1 (the HIV meds help with COVID) rather than #2 (HIV acts as a vaccine for SARS-CoV-2). "South Africa has the world’s highest rates of HIV and TB infection. To gauge their impact on COVID-19, scientists in South Africa’s Western Cape province analyzed outcomes for 12,987 patients with the disease. P13315 AC from Finland is right ... CA didn't do things nearly as well as they could/should have been done. We had very, very delayed and inadequate testing. We did lock down relatively early, and are reopening more slowly than some states, but a good deal of people didn't (and still don't) take the mask orders or stay at home orders seriously. And Amazon subscribe and save is set to ship this week. It’s frustrating not being able to shop local or go to the farmers market, this year. However, all I have to do is imagine my normal pneumonia times 10 and that’s enough to shift my thinking back to I appreciate my ability to stay home. Need more snacks. The CEO of Gilead, the producer of the drug, reports this in an open letter. The drug used to treat Covid-19 will be available in the U.S. from July. When it will be available in Europe, and how much it will cost us, is still unknown. P13315 Had a chat with our local health official mostly from the viewpoint of gossip, learned that they opened up for everyone who wants it to be tested for the virus and its antibodies for free at our hospital. Pondering to get that antibody test. Would be nice to see if I got some immunity to this plague. I bet our official numbers wills tart growing from tomorrow.
