And a slow motion train wreck is just nuts. My friend’s sister is coming to the end of her battle with an aggressive cancer and she might not get to go back easy to visit her sister because she can’t leave until Mid June.

We are getting closer and closer to a harder restriction on travel. My heart hurts for her.

I saw this article earlier and decided to investigate the governments claimed figures and found some fascinating information.

Everything I post comes from this fairly hidden page on the governments website that explains the testing:

Testing is broken into 4 "Pillars":

Breakdown of testing by testing strategy ‘pillars’
Pillar 1: swab testing in Public Health England (PHE) labs and NHS hospitals for those with a clinical need, and health and care workers
Pillar 2: swab testing for the wider population, as set out in government guidance
Pillar 3: serology testing to show if people have antibodies from having had COVID-19
Pillar 4: serology and swab testing for national surveillance supported by PHE, ONS, Biobank, universities and other partners to learn more about the prevalence and spread of the virus and for other testing research purposes, for example on the accuracy and ease of use of home testing

So to simplify, Pillar 1 is in hospital COVID tests, Pillar 2 is at home COVID tests and Pillars 3 and 4 are antibody tests.

The governments daily testing figures is made up of all 4 pillars even though only the first 2 are related to actual active COVID tests rather than antibody tests.

Todays testing figures: 133,467
Todays tests excluding Pillars 3 and 4: 102,509

Now lets look as Pillar 2 closer. This pillar consists of 2 types of in community tests; tests done by professionals at drive in centres and tests sent to peoples houses for them to do.

Bare in mind the invasivenes of these tests and think for a second how reliably people will be able to do this at home and get a reliable result. Now lets look at the breakdown of Pillar 2:

Drive in: 11,245
At home: 52,095

Roughly 5 out of 6 Pillar 2 tests are at home tests done by untrained members of the public. In fact, this means that 52,095 of the 102,509 COVID tests were done by the public themselves.

The testing statistics of this country are a joke, aritificially inflated to meet some arbitrary target, and in the process they are actively stopping effective tracking of the epidemic here.

And this isnt the last shocking find I made. If you scroll down the page to the section titled "Time Series" and download the csv file names "Time Series of Testing Statistics" you can see a full breakdown of all the data.

If you look at Column E, it is titled "Daily Number of Tests". If you scroll right to the bottom of the CSV to todays data, namely row 814, you will see the UK figures for Pillar 1. In column E you will see todays reported Pillar 1 number: 39,169.

But heres the good bit. If you look at column G you'll see its titled "Daily Number of People Tested" with the figure being 21,939.

By the governments own admission, they are testing each patient twice and reporting both tests in their statistics.

So just to break that down the UK government claimed to have done 133,467 tests, but once you remove anitbody tests and double tests you are left with 85,279 tests of which 52,095 (61%) were done by untrained members of the public.

I was for years but found I can’t get by, and be healthy, without 4 oz fish and sometimes some eggs, a day so I have to be a mostly vegan eater. I’m careful to avoid farmed fish so hopefully the fish I eat only suffered at the very end of their life. :)
