Just checking in -- not much to report. Seeing more and more stories of long-haulers in our local news. Seems to be happening to a pretty high percentage of people, versus other viruses.

I am feeling pretty down ... pretty bleak overall, about the future. I'll keep hanging on, but I don't have much hope.

Yeah...Like you, I am hanging on, but the future is looking grim. I take comfort in the fact that despite all of this, God is still on the throne.

It's very easy to let our guard down, let those doubts and fears creep in, happens to all of us at some stage in our lives.

You can prep and plan for times of trouble, but survival is all in the mind. Positive thoughts are a must, look forward, look for the positive in the situation we find ourselves.

Hey Doommonkey. You have to keep hope! I know it's all doom and gloom right now, but I'm sure you know your history. Everything is cyclical. This is OUR Spanish flu, Black Plague period. Whether or not it was released on purpose doesn't matter when it comes to having hope. Your chances of getting sick, with anything, is higher when you get depressed. I'm saying "you" in a non personal way. I'm sure TH will back me up on this. When you get to the point that you see NOTHING but misery, your immune system will become weakened.

Find JOY in little things. EVERY DAY!! We have bird feeders out in the yard. Mostly, we only get sparrows, but even they are fun to watch. Then, the squirrels come in and eat some of the seed that's on the ground. I'm GLAD to be able to help them get ready for winter, as it looks like ours will be a hard one this year. Even that has JOY in it! The clean smell of winter and snow is magic to me. I love the way snow sparkles at night when the light shines on it, from inside.

Thanks, folks. It's all good advice. I actually do have quite a lot on board for today .... setting up my newest (giant!) Aerogarden, flushing them all out and replacing the water , transplanting some tomatoes (and hopefully not killing them in the process), doing birds, and quite a bit for school (work), too.

I'm not meeting with my classes via Zoom today -- the air quality is terrible, and that makes it near impossible to talk for 6 straight hours. New fires in the area, and it's a smoky, nasty haze. The Santa Rosa fire is fairly close to me (not close enough for me to be thinking evacuation, but close enough to be covered in a thick haze.)

I know the importance of making meaning, yes (and that was a great book list, CC) -- but I also know the importance of grieving, which may also be something I'm needing to do. Sometimes meaning comes along with the grief.

I'm a grumpus, where holidays are concerned. I love the spirit of Christmas, but hate all the commercialism around it (and all holidays, for that matter.) I appreciate that they're important as a way of marking time, though .. and I loved Christmas as a child ... so I definitely understand why people with kids make a big deal about it.

We usually get some pine branches and do some minor decorating, and make tasty things that make the house smell good (like mulled wine or spiced cider) -- but that's about it.

You're some of the kindest and most sincere people I've ever met, and you are making it possible to hang onto some semblance of sanity throughout all this.

The idea of just letting this virus rip is pure insanity. If it were a normal flu, maybe that would make sense ... but this is so clearly an unnatural pathogen, that both kills and disables -- that it's bonkers to fail to control it. So far, there's no believable indication that herd immunity is likely to happen.

I apologize for forgetting which poster mentioned the furin cleavage site a few pages back .. but yes, that's the key (or at least a big part of the key). That's exactly what Chris Martenson has been saying all along, and it echoes what a lot of other non-mainstream-narrative virologists have said. That's what allows it to be so contagious to humans, and it appears to have been spliced out of HIV and sequenced into SARS-CoV-2. The fact that this thing either leaked out of a lab, or was released, is the elephant in the room that nobody wants to acknowledge.
