In Europe, they are saying that the current Virus equals that of a bad flu year, I believe that in the US, too.

looks like we are finally seeing the end of the tunnel, this virus is fast loosing its steam.

Great news, October is set the be the end of Covid-19, the vaccine will quickly be administered to populations.

Tempting to say it's losing steam, but far too premature. Currently there is more awareness of the virus and vulnerable people have taken steps to avoid infection, so it's to be expected that deaths won't be as bad as the first outbreak.

Well the infection rate seems higher yes, but the death rate is way down, the current lethality matches a bad flu year and it only affect people over 80 with underlying health conditions.

France has already hit the plateau a few days ago, the curb is on a downward trend, looks like like this virus is loosing its strength and punch as it goes from one person to the other, classic example how viruses lose their punch.

So that's UK and France reporting fewer new cases than last week. Spain's new cases up only slightly, but they have a big reduction in hospital admissions.

Looks like all these countries have reached their second wave peak.

I'm a grumpus, where holidays are concerned. I love the spirit of Christmas, but hate all the commercialism around it (and all holidays, for that matter.) I appreciate that they're important as a way of marking time, though .. and I loved Christmas as a child ... so I definitely understand why people with kids make a big deal about it.

We usually get some pine branches and do some minor decorating, and make tasty things that make the house smell good (like mulled wine or spiced cider) -- but that's about it.

Coronavirus: New global test will give results 'in minutes'

A test that can accurately diagnose coronavirus in minutes will dramatically expand testing in low and middle-income countries, the World Health Organization (WHO) has said.

The $5 test could transform tracking of Covid-19 in less wealthy countries, which have shortages of healthcare workers and laboratories.

A deal with manufacturers will provide 120 million tests over six months.

The WHO's head called it a major milestone.
