There is a new community case of Covid-19, director general of health Ashley Bloomfield says.

The man, a ports worker from Auckland who went to New Plymouth for work this week, tested positive on October 16. The man sought a test on the day he developed symptoms.

In theory viruses mutate to become more lethal and kill most of their hosts also making them less contagious or become less lethal and more contagious .In reality no virus or bacteria wiped out whole humanity even famous black plague.Fact is that this virus won't wipe humanity.It will cause more trouble ,collapses of societies some of them will be rebuild .Let's see what happens in one year. Potatoes and carrots can be stored in a root cellar. Apples, cabbage, winter squash. There's more, but my mind went blank while I was typing.

I've been binge watching root cellar videos lately. I have a walk-in basement. It starts at like 10 feet tall and gets smaller and smaller. It's partially insulated, but I haven't been able to figure out if that is sufficient.

So I dumped out my 50 lb bag of potatoes and some onions in (separate) ventilated boxes and put them down there to see what happens.

Good luck with it, hon. I really hope it works. I've never had a spot that I could try it in. I do know, my grandparents used to store root veg in their basement years ago. My dad used to tell stories about my great grandma's apple barrel in the cellar.

There's videos where people just bury a cooler or fridge in the ground. I live on a rock with like 2 inches of clay so it's not possible for me lol. But maybe you could?
