No, that is not what it means. First of all, what is being called the triple mutation is B.1.618 not B.1.617.

B.1.617 is what is being called the double mutation. It’s mutations are on the S2 side of the spike where the receptor binding domain is which binds with the cell’s ACE2 receptors.

B.1.617 in India is very similar to the double mutation variants which also spontaneously mutated in South Africa and Brazil with catastrophic results.

The big problem with B.1.618 is that there is an added mutation on the S1 side of the spike. The B.1.618 mutation of interest is on the S1 side of the spike, which is where fusion of the virus onto the cell is facilitated in the domain, and in contact with, the furin cleavage site where the the two prion-like genesis sites are located and the neurotropic sequences of the virus were inserted on this duel use agent. Very, very dangerous mutation. Perfect bioweapon.
