I would suggest majoring in Drama. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73403427 drama ?!!!! and who tells you that i like drama more than math? and what the hell i will work with degree in drama ? and how drama degree is better than my degree in English? why most responses i get is very unbelievably dumb?? i said i dont like "too much math" not "i don't like math" in school i always scored above average in math and my IQ is always scored "near-genius" or at least "above average" i said i want to know the easiest Engineering major not the Engineering major with no math !!!! Anonymous Coward User ID: 72530568 Canada 01/21/2020 10:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | you can go for "Environmental Engineering" It's a new fake branch of engineering that has been created to increase the number of women in engineering so they don't have to do all that 'hard math' stuff. I am a civil engineer, but I graduated in '92. Back then it was tough. Half the kids dropped out in the first 6 months of the program. Half of the remaining kids never graduated or finished the program dropping out over the next 3 years. Today with the diversity quotas and the mandatory female student/grad numbers, they've watered it down and created fake engineering disciplines like Ceramic Engineering and Environ Eng so women can feel good about planting flowers. |

Engineering disciplines require high levels of math. Here in the States, Engineering jobs are usually by contract. That means when the contract expires, so does your job... If your lucky, you can get into a firm that will keep you. Even if you have contracted work. There may be extensive traveling too... Like you, I wanted to be close to home. As an electrical engineering graduate there were no jobs like that. So I went into Clinical Engineering and worked my way up to management. You get to repair and program hospital equipment. It is a very stressful job that deals with life and death situations. It is rewarding and the pay is good. High levels of burn out from stress have been reported in this field... If you were in the States, I'd say get into Civil or Mechanical Engineering. Bridges and roads need to be repaired and built... Last Edited by DuckNCover on 01/21/2020 11:32 AM |

That isn't exactly true, there is no specific "environmental engineering" degree you get, it is just that they renamed most programs "civil and environmental engineering" to sound PC, you have to do all the same civil curriculum and math - calc, diff calc, lin. algebra... A lot of the stuff a civil engineer does is stormwater and wastewater stuff - hence the environmental. |

Well, Ceramic Engineering can be tough if you go for exotic ceramics and their applications (like lubrication-free engine blocks or gun barrels you don't have to replace). |

A person without a passion for math has no business entertaining pursuing an engineering degree. I started with the idea of going for civil but ultimately got an electrical and computer engineering degree primarily because of my attraction to the esoteric math involved. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 73148267 United States 01/22/2020 04:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | To seriously answer the OP's question - in the USA at least, almost all real respected engineering degrees take the exact same math courses in the first two years: To me REAL engineering degrees include: Civil Mechanical Electrical Chemical Ceramic Industrial Nuclear Most of the above have a number of specialty fields within. Anything received outside of those are somewhat iffy... to the guy who complained about "environmental" engineering, I'd agree that if that was obtained short of a full civil degree I'd be wary of it. To me that would be like being a programmer and calling yourself a "computer engineer". In many states it is actually illegal to entitle yourself as an "engineer" without a real engineering degree. My state will issue cease and desist letters and criminal penalties for doing so. Unfortunately this habit is very common and people in the U.S.A. call themselves "engineers" all of the time - I wouldn't be surprised if prostitutes are now calling themselves "sexual gratification engineers". These are the minimum maths you will take to get a real engineering degree: pre-admittance: geometry algebra trigonometry pre-calculus real college: Calculus I (differentation) Calculus II (integration) Calculus III (limits) Multivariable calculus Differential calculus Linear algebra Engineering statistics If you don't want to take at a minimum all of those classes above then engineering is not going to be for you (at least in the U.S.A.) Hope that helps. |
