What does this mean? Los Alamos National Laboratory says R0 for coronavirus COVID-19 value is likely to be between 4.7 and 6.6! [ link to www.medrxiv.org] The study points to a doubling of cases every 2.4 days. A doubling every 2.4 days is equivalent to a daily multiplier of 1.33. Assuming Patient 0 was infected sometime around the 1st of December, 75 days have passed. 1.33 to the 75th power (1.33^75) is almost 2 billion. That would mean almost every Chinese is infected. Not sure that is true at this time. I would believe 5 - 10 million at this point, not the entire country. Yet. from NBC News Feb 13, 2020: "In fact, it appears nothing unusually sinister occurred in the past 24 hours that would make the new coronavirus, which causes COVID-19, any more dangerous than it was the day before. The increase "largely comes down to a change in how cases are being diagnosed and reported," Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of the WHO's health emergencies program, said.
