Anonymous Coward User ID: 78156939 Australia 01/26/2020 11:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thanks OP. I'm just a cynical old bastard, but the logistics of this whole thing seem to be suggesting to me that this is an attack on China and the World by some other state. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78366734 Cui bono? I'm a cynical old bitch, but the thought of double the whole population of Oz on lockdown . . is not good at all. Op, ask him how they are getting food, and general day to day household stuff. . |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77506855 United States 01/26/2020 11:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wouldn't trust anything that some yellow, squint eyed son of a bitch had to say. Quoting: John Madden 78297785 Don't you know their agenda?! Don't you know what they want to do to all the non squint eyed "peopre"? They are planning their attack to conquer the world..It will happen very soon! They will leave none of us normal people alive. We must fight to the death to keep these small dicked creeps from having world domination! If you're Interested in joining the fight against all Asians around the world.. then go to my website at infowars.con Well, the last time I saw him on Friday, I said that I wished that his family in China stays safe and that he and his family wonderful Chinese New Year, even if they are apart for the moment. He seemed sincerely touched, and he then wished my family and me a happy new year too. The only other person in town who is aware of the situation...and he happens to be a Chinese foreign exchange student. I know I'll have to ask him when he arrived in the USA, because the semester just began here... I'm just not necessarily looking forward to his answer :( My grandson's university started classes on January 13th after their winter break. He's 1,500 miles from home. I do know there are Chinese students at his university in the south. I assume many go home to China for their long Christmas break. I was concerned for my grandson's safety, so I texted him yesterday and told him to be careful...first signs of an illness, go to the clinic. He was well aware of the Coronavirus and said he is not going near any Chinese students for now. lol I'm sorry you are so far away from your grandson. I don't have any children, but the worrying must be intense sometimes. Hang in there, nutmeg. My two roommates - boy and girl, mid-20s - are both sick, with coughing and sore throat and whatnot. Unfortunately, thanks to sharing an apartment with me, they are probably thinking the worst... The girl is worried because the guy works at a busy restaurant by the campus, and large groups of Chinese (or, Asian looking) kids often frequent his establishment. I'm not sick yet, and I obviously hope this is just them getting the regular old cold! Research sodium dioxide. This is what I will use if I get sick. |

She said to get ready because it WILL come to the US Last Edited by telling it straight on 01/26/2020 11:53 PM |

L User ID: 75944363 United States 01/27/2020 12:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't expect this thread to get pinned, this is just what the Chinese exchange student who I talk to at the bus stop told me. Quoting: Wharf Rat Yesterday, when it was just two cities in quarantine, he said, "Yes yes, it's very very bad." He has, obviously, been keeping in touch with his family. He explained to me that Wuhon -- as big as LA or NYC population-wise -- was also a major transportation hub in China. He tried to explain how if you lived in one part of China and wanted to travel to another, you basically have to pass to Wuhon. And he explained how tomorrow (today, Saturday) was the beginning of the Chinese new year. I haven't read any news stories saying what a huge transportation hub Wuhan is, and how during the incubation period, God only knows how many people contracted the virus and went on their merry way....aren't they saying there's a 13-day incubation period you can exhibit no symptoms yet still be highly contagious? Anyway, flash forward to day. This morning, we said hello, and resumed talking about the situation in China. He said his relatives say this is extremely serious, and presumably much much worse than the CCP is reporting. So he might be a college age kid, and a Chinese national, but he's no dummy. Not by a longshot. I thanked him for his information about Wuhan being the equivalent of Grand Central Station, and in return hipped him to the information (in the West) that Wuhan has a major bio-pathogenic-(warfare)-research facility in the city. The student took this information in with all appropriate seriousness, and told me he would attempt to verify this later, and inform his family if true. He said the university already said they are extending his student visa, so as not to return to China when he was expecting to. As far as I know, this has not been reported in the news, if in fact it is true. (If it is, I think it's good public health policy IMO!) Anyway, here's my tiny contribution to you GLP sleuths. Good Luck People |

Still, it's not The Stand, not unless this thing mutates a few more times for the worse (remember, it can also mutate to become more benign). The most likely outcome is a few million deaths and the major impact on the world economy that it will have. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 75147420 United States 01/27/2020 12:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Considering that a university has no authority whatsoever to extend a students visa, I call bs. The students can apply for an extension themselves but no one else can and the only entity in charge of extending visas is the government Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76509910 It's really the least of his concerns, I think. He seemed really worried about his family! He said they are safe, but.... I mean, I would still worry too. The exchange visa thing was just something he told me, and I was just mentioning it here on GLP to provide some, shall we say, quantum entanglement. You never know what becomes relevant! OP that was a dodge to a great point. |
oniongrass User ID: 78249263 United States 01/27/2020 12:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I can verify that Wuhan is indeed a major transport hub. I've been there. It's not a nice place, a valley city between mountains that is always polluted because the pollution can't escape. But China's fastest rail line runs from there - from Guangzhou to Changsha to Wuhan and on. Quoting: Sean Kaven 78387355 You just can't quarantine a city that size. People got out. It's spreading. Still, it's not The Stand, not unless this thing mutates a few more times for the worse (remember, it can also mutate to become more benign). The most likely outcome is a few million deaths and the major impact on the world economy that it will have. Well they gave like a whole day's warning, and the hospitals in Wuhan were already full. So what do you expect sick people to do? Go to Shanghai, fly to NYC, get out and seek medical care where they might be able to get it. And that's what some people did. Wuhan is more like 20 million people, more than twice the size of any US city. . It could also be a false flag by China, but I doubt it because they appear completely unprepared unlike when 911 happened and the US government had FEMA stationed in NY city days before. |

Windsage User ID: 77763753 United States 01/27/2020 02:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP: Get some colloidal silver and give some to your roommates, it really works. And start taking it yourself. Take a tablespoon every two hours until you feel noticeably better, then every four hours. And tell your Chinese person about it. It's one of the best anti-virals. It is silver ions that are electrostatically charged with a negative ion, and suspended in distilled water. These silver ions attach themselves to bacteria and viruses thereby preventing them from replicating. Stops the disease in its tracks. My preferred brand is Sovereign Silver; you can order it online at Amazon and Walmart. Many health food stores carry the brand but it's more expensive there. |
