If women are "equal" athletes as men, why do they get a closer 3 point line and smaller basketball?

Did anyone actually say they're equal? Especially in basketball, where size makes a fair amount of difference.

They get to tie off closer in golf also.

Same applies there, since how far you can hit a ball makes a difference to the game.

My son used to play high school and travel hockey. In 10th grade there was a girl on his team that a year later made the US Olympic Women's Hockey Team. I saw her play many times. Against average high school boys she did not stand out at all with respect to hockey sense or ability but she did hustle a bit more than some of them.

Several years ago the US Women's National Soccer Team scrimmaged the US Boys Under 17 Soccer Team and lost 8-2.

Moral to the story: The BEST female athletes in the world possess skill levels equal to that of average or slightly above average high school aged boys. They are only above average athletes when compared against other women.

That 1 inch size and weight difference makes a HUGE difference since the hoop is not 1 inch smaller. Your sister might have been born a male.

Obviously men can be, and usually are, bigger and stronger and faster with proportionally greater upper body strength.

"Equal athletes" doesn't necessarily mean equal in a head-to-head match. It means women should have the same access to sports activities as men and can be athletes themselves. You're overlooking that there was a time when athleticism for women was very much frowned upon. At one time, even swimming and wading out into water was not considered appropriate for women. And it was pretty hard to do many sports anyway when you had a floor-length dress on.

Women can be athletes and schools and colleges should have some funding and facilities for such. That's all it means.

Schools shouldn't be forced to fund both sexes sports equally when interest and revenue is totally disproportionate.

They also have separate leagues for chess.
