It is suspect and here is why:
if the fog was so thick - and it was in many areas - why would the pilot fly into known terrain that is like a narrow pocket with hills/mountains on either side and seem to increase speed?
It was reported that it appeared the pilot was turning back south (in theory because he found the fog to be too thick to continue so was turning back).
What should be looked at is why in thick fog would he have flown into an area that is boxed in with hills on either side and why was he flying so low in dense fog, and why the high rate of speed? In fog, a pilot would slow down - but this one was said to going about 160 mph (given the spread of the debris field, it was clear the chopper was going at a high speed).
Those things put together are highly questionable. Somebody flying Kobe Bryant wasn't likely to be incompetent - so was there nefarious intent there?

Ok, I have to ask... I assume this helicopter is turbine powered and runs on jet fuel? If so, it’s basically the same thing as diesel or kerosene which has a much higher flash point than gasoline. Would it create a mushroom cloud type explosion upon crashing like that?
