* a not-insubstantial probability that this might happen (global epidemic)
* chances of seeding in major chinese cities - if that happens and due to at least 4 major (chinese) city clusters that have extensive links with the rest of the world's ports, then the chances of seeding sufficient numbers in overseas ports and cities such that they would generate their own local epidemics is not trivial.

As of (even) Wednesday, we KNOW flights were still coming into JFK direct from WUHAN. WHERE did all those people go? We will all know so much more in 2 weeks time.

I will take what he says as the gold standard to this unfolding whether it is naturally derived virus or bio weapon, he has the best observation of how it will behave, and it's potentials.

Yes, but still too many unanswered questions that make it more or less dire. There just hasn't been enough time to study how long it lives on things like packaging, and what effect temperatures have on the virus. Also, the incubation period is pretty broad.

It might be good if the whole world would take a month long vacation in place.

I have a really bad feeling this is a weaponized virus, and there is not a damn thing anyone can do but let it run its course, as with all great plagues throughout history.

The 1918 Spanish flu infected and killed a great many of the global population at the time. This was when humans were still riding horses, very few cars, no planes, and not much mass transportation to speak of, by today's standards. This virus, if it is weaponized, will make the Spanish flu numbers look like a common cold. This is nothing to turn your back on, until, or if, the numbers start dropping. This could be the reset many have been hoping for, be careful what you wish for.

Within the next month I would think we should know if it's a just another strong flu, or we are all fucked.

This is basically summarized via personal assimilation.

Nutshell...It is increasing exponentially. Mainland China huge cities will see massive infections about 2 weeks apart due to the lengthy incubation phase.

Best hope is that low levels of symptoms equal lower levels of virus shedding.

So...It ain't looking good.

He suggests pretty much just staying at home and let thins thing run it's course.At least that's how I view what he relayed.

Because flu is a common illness and is being misqouted. People are saying there are 5M to 6M flu cases world wide resulting in 400k to 500k deaths Wich gives a 12% to 15% mortality rate.

The problem is those figures are if severe flu illness. The average flu effects 10% to 20% world population. So that means 700M to 1.4B flu cases. Yet 0.6% or less get severe illness and of that small perecent is a 12% mortality rate.

With Corona the amount of severe illness is much higher and data is complete. Right now it seems like it could be 25x to 40x worse. The other problem is R factor or reproductive factor seems to be 2x or 3x worse.

The numbers are to early to be reliably correct. But all of the seem to be adding multiple compound numbers compared to flu. By the time we do have reliable figures, it maybe beyond human containment measures. So it need to be taken as a world public health emergency with constant survalliance and countermeasures until deemed not needed. Not the other way around.
