When SHTF, we'll all be crapping in our backyard or somewhere similar.

Time to bring back the outhouse.

If there's no potable water, your toilet won't flush.

You'll be doing it old school.

Those of us on a well have a little more time but once electricity has to be conserved, we're all shitting in the woods.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74745922

Nope, baby wipes are so important... you have to keep your butt clean... and I don’t have potable water, I have a well and a little pond too!

:lmwink:
 Quoting: LittleMe

I currently keep my butt clean with a bidet. Using baby wipes is an absurd way to keep things clean unless you use incineration to dispose of them. I hope you don't send them into your septic system.

You have a well, which is potable water. Likely, your pond water is not potable. Potable means that the water is safe to drink. Portable is quite different. I have a well, a pond and a creek. Only one of which is safe to drink from without treatment and filtration.

Should water sources and electricity fail to ensure the operation of your toilet, you will need a composting toilet or your ground water will eventually be contaminated potentially rendering your well unsuitable as drinking water. This assumes you have a hand pump to get water from the well once there is no power for your well pump.

While I have multiple Berkey filters and don't see that as an issue until at least 75% of the ill prepared have left us, their decomposing corpses will also be a problem for me maintaining clean water to drink/bathe/clean with.

Think long term. Those who do and have thought short term will be in the aforementioned 75%.

You know, even though I don't believe in this whole Corona thing (Mexican pisswasser was never my thing), I'm still going to use this whole event as learning experience to never be left so vulnerable and unprepared should I ever need to get drunk (talking emergency situation here, not at my leisure) or need to clean my ass or my wife's ass.

If not for this thread, I'd have been left wholly-unprepared, sober and with potentially dirty asses from the lack of "portable" water :(((

There is such a thing as 'portable' water. If you need to bug out for elsewhere, you'll want to take some water with you.

You could take a few flats of water bottles or some gallon jugs. In my case, I have some 55 gallon barrels full of sanitized water I can load into my truck and take with me if the need arises.

What is estradiol (Estrace, Gynodiol)? Estradiol is a form of estrogen, a female sex hormone that regulates many processes in the body. Estradiol is used to treat menopause symptoms such as hot flashes and vaginal changes, and to prevent osteoporosis (bone loss) in menopausal women.

 Quoting: Lumberghini

Um, yeah, they do. Potable water (safe to drink, bathe in and use for cleaning) can be made portable.

You can take potable water and fill a 55g drum which then makes it PORTABLE.

That means, upon arrival at your intended destination, you have POTABLE water that was made PORTABLE via your original, proper planning.

If you arrive at a location with a pond, creek or otherwise non-potable source of water, what do you need to do???? You need to make it POTABLE. Hence the need for treatment, filtration, etc.

This really shouldn't be that difficult.

Is that R so hard to understand???

I'm trying not to be a smartass but your questions really come across as either massive ignorance or sheer stupidity.

Got plenty of them. On a cost basis, they're not your best bang for the buck.

I'd still suggest a few drops of bleach and a 10 minute wait before drinking from pond/creek/river water with a Life Straw. Then again, it's my life I'm playing with.

Better yet, get the Berkey Sport or the Sawyer .2 micron.

I drank out of a river using both without bleach and had no problems.

It's up to you to decide what you're OK with. Bleach is cheap and proper filters remove its taste. I can wait 10 minutes.

The cure for me has been a combination of Vitex and getting to bed by at least ten every night. I used to stay awake till ungodly hours, and sleeping early has dramatically changed my hormones, its upped my progesterone, and I am pretty shocked because I was not expecting that. For the first time in years I had a luteal phase which lasted 14 days and not 11!!

So now, I am hopeful I will not miscarry this time.

Re: I was going to go pick up preps but I went to the liquor store instead
...

i am happy i am a MAN! so ur going thru menopause??

What is estradiol (Estrace, Gynodiol)? Estradiol is a form of estrogen, a female sex hormone that regulates many processes in the body. Estradiol is used to treat menopause symptoms such as hot flashes and vaginal changes, and to prevent osteoporosis (bone loss) in menopausal women.

Lol no, not time for menopause yet, I'm gonna have more kids!

Estradiol is just the medical term for estrogen, and yeah its used for menopause when women's levels start crashing and they experience hot flashes. My problem is I have too much and need less. Its caused me to have miscarriages in the past, but my doctor and I have (touch wood) possibly cured it now.

Look up saw palmetto. It is suppose to help women with estrogen dominance.

Not really. But I'm sure you'll indicate why I'm stating so.

Rather than accept the ads in your browser, get a better understanding of how beta-sitosterol works? Maybe even look into 5-alpha-reductase?

Or just spout shit like you know what you're talking about.

How many "brands" of this magic Saw Palmetto potion provide reliable amounts of said properties?

I'm sure that cheap Wal Mart bottle is chock full of the "good stuff".

Yep, that's what I do.

I come to GLP for experts on biochemistry.

Especially brash ones who show few signs of intelligence.

Good luck to you all!

Saw Palmetto works similar in action to prescription Finasteride, which is prescribed for an enlarged prostrate, so he was right. Trouble is it blocks testosterone, which is why men hate it. I wouldnt use it if I was a man.
