N95 MASKS ARE USELESS: they're just particulate respirators for sanding... they won't help against virus! | |

My uncle is Doctor. Quoting: FF 77589388 As has been stated elsewhere. Virus does not travel in air without carrier. (i.e dust or water). You are not trying to filter at the level of the microns of the particle, but to stop it's aerosolization from entering your lungs. N95 SHOULD be adequate.I got N99 though for added security. " Depending on the treatment of the carbon, the filter will remove more or less particles from the air. In an N99 filters, the activated charcoal molecules have a bigger surface area. So, these filters can capture more air pollutants (at least 99%). And hence you will breathe at least 99% less air particles than if you do not wear a mask. As follows, the N95 filter has smaller molecules. So they will be able to filter a slight bit less than an N99 filter, eg. 95%. Now, N99 filters can usually trap a few more molecules since the surface of the area of the molecule is bigger (= to trap more air pollutants). And that is exactly the reason why you won’t be breathing in as many molecules as with an N95 filter or with no filter at all. But then N99 filters are more complicated and expensive to produce. So, be prepared to pay a slight bit more for a mask with an N99 filter. Your health should be worth it though, no doubt." i love uncle info. uncle dr. info, even better. aerisolization (if that's a word) through sneezing is a real threat, especially in crowded public transport, etc... even if an N95 mask could stop this under perfect conditions, and i don' think it can, there will almost never be perfect conditions with these flimsy masks. i'm sure these tests are done with perfect seals, and do not take into account imperfect seals around the cheeks and nose with these flimsy things. still, i appreciate your input. regards to your uncle. :uncle: Every medical worker has to get an N95 mask fitting yearly to be practice. Every single person is tested using an incredibly potent gas sprayed at your face inside a hooded dome. N95 masks if sized reasonably well will in fact fit and seal appropriately. Standard N95 masks will create appropriate seals for the average person ok, you're proving my point. if they need to go through a mask fitting yearly, there is a reason--because the seal is often not great. and these are health professionals. i'm talking about average tards that don't have a clue and didn't get any fitting... It is more a test to ensure facial hair compliance, as they wont fit adequately with a beard. 99% of people have no fit issues. So i guess the takeaway is... N95 if clean shaved larger respirator if prominent facial hair |

EDIT: editing the title... After comments and more research, i've come to the conclusion that they won't help. M95 masks would be needed! I purchased some N95 a few days ago, & my plan is to cover one of them with some tin foil, & attached with some clear Duct Tape. Over this N95 mask I will also cover it with a regular mask. Plus I'm looking at some goggles to protect Eyes. Then there is the Ear problem. I'm thinking some cotton balls saturated in Colliodal Silver or Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide. Over top of that I plan on wearing the Winter Ear muffs. Anyone else got some ideas? I’m going to put drops of Thieves Oil in my mask. Just like they did in the 15th century during the Plague. Google it. It’s the doctors in the freaky bird nose outfits. If it worked during the Pkague, it will work for this. Yes, I spray my hands & nose with thieves oil, before I enter a store. |

And it wouldn't allow air in, so covering a filter with it would just suffocate you. Also, you don't want aluminum anywhere near your air passages or near your food, because it triggers Alzheimers disease. There are earplugs that could probably screen out noise and germs. Leaving a cotton ball soaked in hydrogen peroxide in your ear more than a minute would likely harm the skin. My thoughts are that when I absolutely have to go out I would wear the mask with tin foil coverage would protect me,since I believe that no virus can penetrate tin foil. |
