80’s were awesome, and then the clintons got put in charge in the 90’s and they took it down from there.
 Quoting: MyPillow

The 80's were trash. Late 90s was the best time to be a teenager. People far more intelligent than millennials and Early Gen x lawmakerschad yet to fuck up things FUBAR.

A lot of shit talking younger generations here but who made all the rules? Patriot act?

Even the music was utlracool. This was approximately the peak of human civilization. We'll never return to being like this.

Was it just the Internet destroying human relationships or more than that?

What happened is that these high school kids had children of their own and didn't give a shit about them. As a result, their kids turned into circus freaks.

Disagree.

My GenZs are very conservative and laugh at the blue hair freakshows. Don't even get them started on the furrys and the idiots who don't know where to pee.

because that was in the void where the dwindling number of children of the people who were but kids that came through WW2, were at play, not exactly all that great but a far cry from current circumstance. there was problems, but for the most part their parents put them on a proper path where mostly gov. bribes and unfair playing field and some people getting a bad deal for no reason were still happening, but so few lees than People far more intelligent than millennialsland where they were but selfish fiendish pigs that the People far more intelligent than millennialss failed miserably as parents and their devil spawn was the menace empowering the evil regimes to form yet gain requiring yet another war to end all wars until we really do.

I graduated in 1988, and I quickly skimmed through the video. I'm not going to watch an entire video of somebody elses high school. But, I was a little surprised to see that those kids were dressed and acted exactly the way we were in my high school, and my school was in a different state.

I'll tell you how it was, and then you'll know what went wrong. First of all, we did not have cell phones, so we had to use the land line in our parents home.

Oh shit, I'm not going to write a lengthy memory lane biography, let's just say it kicked ass! We could say anything, anything we wanted to say. Fuck it, I could yell J-w boy at the top of my lungs, and I might piss somebody off, but that was on me. The music of the 80's was great. We had Ronald Reagan as our President. We had cars we could afford. We smoked pot, drank beer, and just had fun. Nobody really had a care. We knew we were heading to college for even more fun!

Yep.

MLK wanted black kids to grow up with all the bennies of white america.
The poor, the brown, the immigrants could advance to "white" levels of prosperity.

Others thought....fuk that. Lets just drop whitey down into the ghettos of life, despair, perversion and abuse with the rest of the exploited.

Problem solved.

Do you believe in the theory that the number of souls ran out, and the world is full of "organic portals" (soulless humans) now?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78425644

Not sure, but it sure would explain a lot...
 Quoting: Penny Peppers

I believe it somewhat. Not that the number of souls cannot be increased (but why?), but that many souls have finished their lessons on earth, and are no longer reincarnating. Leaving souless portals walking around.

I can actually determine who is male and who is female..

Where are all the Mexicans in this video ?

Today I look at high school kids and wonder where all the white kids are ..

A variety of factors are corrupting America in 2020. But other places throughout the world too. Look at many portions of Europe, Central/South America.

Sure, the good or bad does include some non-political aspects of a place. But almost no screwed-up city or nation can be pointed to and an observer say its problems are due to too much cultural, political conservatism/rightism.

If a stretch is made to describe some Sharia-fied parts of the Middle East as rightwing, then ironically enough notice how it's mainly liberals - not conservatives - in the West who tap dance for such areas, peoples and cultures.

If a magic wand could be waved over the US and every person who's currently casually dishonest, happily illogical, nonchalantly unethical and calculatingly non-compassionate (or having the traits of people mainly on the left) could be transformed into being just the opposite, a lot of today's problems would start to diminish. Not all, but many.

I only see a lot of young people trying to self-portrait themselves and trying to grasp everyone's attention. Egoism combined with proudness are at the beginning of each downfall...
 Quoting: Theodesus

yeah. i graduated in 1989.

high school was horrible. the kids were horrible to each other. although they pretended to be friends. it was very fake and hierarchy based off how much money/connections you had and how populate u were.

everybody got shit on. even the popular kids.

but there was an element of innocence. more so the. what’s in the kids now

that year the kids were still very innocent. although they were doing innocent thing.

they would go from exchanging bumble gum packs , to destroying their good friend growing up for being overweight. and not making the cheerleader team. then they would go do cocaine at a lefty and most would just fuck somebody at the party even if it wasn’t their boyfriend girlfriend

I graduated in 90. Yes, high school in the late 80s was RAD! I even had a mullet for a year and of course a jean jacket. Played sports, played the drums, had a 3.7 gpa - back when those things mattered. I was your stereotypical 80s kid.

30-year reunion is this summer!

Here's a good flash-back mini-movie.

I was a teenager of the optimistic 80s. I think male /female relationships were less strained then. I have no children but would be so worried for them if I had.
I believe cell phones and social media has a massive influence on kids social interaction, not always for the better. Kids do dumb things, now it can be saved for posterity.

Do you people not realize how controlled children are these days? From the time they are very small the schools are very controlling and students don't have anywhere near the sort of freedom they would need to be happy and carefree like you used to see.

We had rock and roll hair. You had flock of seagulls hair..

Part of it is that back then the average person wouldn't be interacting with a camera on even a monthly basis, so everyone puts on their best behavior.

Nowadays everyone is on camera every day, so it's hard to justify the same level of effort.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76919720

I posted a theory on that.

Thread: The Internet has changed women. (Madonna in 1986 versus Selena Gomez in 2015)

Just compare these songs. Madonna in 1986 and Selena Gomez in 2015. Both songs were co-written by the singers.

What have we got? Madonna is singing about how she'll improve her lover's life in all kinds of positive ways. She's offering support and advice and she's explaining why her lover should trust her, and why they'll be happy together.

Selena Gome
I think women like Selena Gomez grow up thinking that their looks are everything because the Internet teaches them that.
z is singing about how she'll enhance her lover's life by allowing him to look at her. Nothing else. It's just that she's so hot, her lover should be overjoyed and blissful because he can look at her.

From their first date on, all they need to do is put a picture of themselves on Instragram or whatever, and they'll get more offers from males than they can deal with.

Before the Internet took over, women had to compete for men's attention based on their personalities as much as their looks because almost all attraction only came from face-to-face interaction.

What's the motivation for someone like Selena Gomez to develop her personality growing up? There's none because she'll get what she wants regardless of her personality.

Another thing -- we had the freedom to say what we wanted -- complete free speech, but we also faced the consequences for that speech.

Now, conservatives are not allowed free speech. Only libtards can speak freely, but they are NOT held accountable for their words.
