My daughter had to get the flu shot for work a few months ago. She hasn’t been sick. My friend has to get one also. The first time she got sick. Now she doesn’t get sick with the shots. I’m not a fan of vaccines and was surprised my daughter didn’t get sick. But then she is very healthy.

My guess is there are many more cases. Highly infectious, 14 window, can survive on items for up to 28hrs. Once they moved out on planes it spread.

Plausible. You'd want medical "stuck" at the hospitals and not fleeing before anything showed up in the area. Staff would be locked down and those who were off would come in to assist. Guilt would prevent any of them leaving their teams. Assuming that's exactly what's happening in China.

imagine your treating or dealing with coronavirus virus people as a first responder then you start coming down with symptoms, you freak out, your put in quarantine (meaning your out of the equation for helping people), and then it turns out you had the flu.. they want to nip things with similar symptoms before it starts

Used to work as a nurse. Got really sick and had to take 2 wks FMLA. When I got back, they stuck me on a hall with a bunch of people with URI's. I said fuck that and wore full garb...gown, mask, shield and gloves. They freaked!! Said the families were asking questions. I said tough shit. They gave me another week off with pay to make me stay home...

The only way to contain the virus is in the past. For instance using emotion we say bring our citizens home regardless of risk . Logically anyone in China at time of out team should stay in China . Total quarantine. Otherwise containment is a no-go .

I found this question and statement intriguing but it seemed to have been glossed over.

CDC is a counting agency. They do not prevent. They send in virologists to determine what it is and if there is a cure. There is not on this one. It's a designer biological designed to do exactly what it is doing.

First to know are top government. Then intel agencies find out where it came from and why. So they know. But how to retaliate? There are 21 vials and only 5 released so far. We are being held hostage by someone. I have my suspicions.

I think it is prudent and wise to have plans in place. My hubs works in auto industry and has to deal with public. They have no plans in place. I feel that is careless, inconsiderate and just plain stupid. So if you don't need it ... FINE - but if you do, there's nothing worse than running around like chickens w/out heads. The word PREPARED means 'ahead of time' ... PRE-pared. Only fools are not PRE-pared. I feel strongly about this because he has brought bugs home to me from his job more than once.

But this year's flu shot, as usual, doesn't affect the main strain that is going around. Not coronavirus, but some other strain that's just a regular bad flu.
