It's going to take several years for this virus to play out, when it's all said and done it will end up like being a new strain of the flu that's 10-20x more deadly than influenza.

It's biggest risks are the initial overwhelming of the health care industry, once the medical workers become exhausted or sick themselves it will spiral out of control and increase it's infectiousness and mortality short term. It's affects on the economy will likely be the most severe part of the virus, as it's already been limping along the last few years being propped up at every turn, the economy won't survive a prolonged down turn and it's effects will be felt for decades. It's not the end of the world, but life is likely to become more difficult in the years to come because of this.
