We have enough diesel to run the generator for about six months, we have that much food, we live on fenced 40 acres with a gate at the drive way and I work remote. We can just shelter in but I'm concerned even that isn't enough to wait this out. Remember, the Spanish Flu had three waves over 2 years each wave was a unique migration. We are buying seeds too so if come May this thing is still raging and we need to put up some food, we can. But I HATE the idea of being a homesteader/gardener... The hard part is my kids. My daughter could just take the GED and graduate but my son is in 8th grade. He's also into sports which creates a ton of close contact. He will sacrifice more sheltering in... Don't depend on the seeds for anything much initially. It usually takes several seasons to become a good farmer. Getting familiar with the in's and outs. Pests and varmit control, different molds and aphids. By all means do start, but don't look for a first year attempt to make food for a year. Mandated tests and reg check ups in order for you to go back to work.
