I was in Portugal with my wife ten years ago. Wow! The food, the music, the people are all terrific. Madredeus was a big musical ensemble then. I bought one of their cd's.

Hispanic Concerts love using the accordion! also the headliner is usually around the 2nd or 3rd band in a festival concert and then they use an additional 3 to 4 fillers just to keep up the action! Smart people, they're not too hammered and can enjoy the band they had come to see before they get all wasted! arriba!! LOL

The Portuguese aren't Hispanic, they're Lusitanian. The Luso/Roman/Celtic culture. The Celts settled the northwest corner of Iberia almost 2K years ago. They brought the bagpipe with them. That's why in n.west spain and portugal they still play the bagpipes. That area of spain has been almost completely ethnically cleansed by the spanish kings and governments for the last 800+ years. The Portuguese, on the other hand, relish their Celtic culture and it is still very much part of their folkloric music.
