That sort of thing has been happening for a while now, I think. I remember linking an article a while back about a patient in NYC, I think it was, who had been diagnosed with covid-19 after the plane trip, before there were quarantines and testing, where the article made sure to say that there was no risk to the other passengers. I said ha! Ha to that!

Actually that might have been Vancouver, Canada, not NYC. Some major city, anyway!

All of those people have since potentially spread it throughout whatever city this was, though, and so it is theoretically already all over USA and Canada, in asymptomatic form.

So, in the case of that Vancouver one, since at the time they didn't know about asymptomatic transmission.. all of that plane's staff would possibly have picked it up, spread it around, so all flights could theoretically be suspect carriers, period.

How many times did that happen? That's at least two times, with the Hawaii case!

Wouldn't say doomed, as 2% is still just 2%, but still it would be a sucky time for humanity. Life will go on afterwards, with just slightly less unhealthy people in it, I guess.
