The virus mutates while they are infected similar to HIV meaning the immune-system response loop may produce an anti-body for the first generation and treat it, but the other mutations need to also go through the same loop. From what I understand from people working on this, it's not curable via a vaccine and will likely require anti-viral treatments just as they have used to suppress HIV in patients and could be for the rest of a person's life. Airborn Aids... but more lethal. We are fucked! |

Everyone lives in an artificial world created by humans, living in cities and suburbs, driving to wherever they have to go in cars, trusting in scientists to explain the world to them when 100 years ago even the dullest had a deep understanding of how the world actually functions. Adaptation is a never ending process in living organisms. The world is filled to the brim with viruses and germs and rapidly mutating organisms that on occasion kill people, but for the most part strengthen our immune systems. 100 years to the place where people are completely ignorant of the world they live in and how it functions. People so obsessed with germs that they can't function without anti-bacterial lotions, yet promote anal intercourse without thinking of how filthy and dangerous acts like that are. You know who this is going to affect? old people on their way out, gays, people with compromised immune systems, germaphobes, infants on formula, people in cities. |
