Question for DEMS... US $20 TRILLION in debt...WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE how much TAX anyone pays?
There is NO link between federal spending and federal revenue and there hasn't been for decades. The gov't. is going to spend what it wants to spend regardless of how much it takes in. What difference does it make how much tax Bloomberg or anyone else pays since it has absolutely ZERO effect on what is spent?

Taxation is supposedly a mechanism to fund the operation of government, however leftist Democrats seem to view it as a playtool for punishment and control.

Someone who believes in higher taxes, please explain how taxing the wealthy more will have any effect on what is spent, since we've already overspent by $20 TRILLION and these problems still exist. What difference will a few billion more revenue make other than for you to feel good about screwing someone that you think is too well off?

Re: Question for DEMS... US $20 TRILLION in debt...WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE how much TAX anyone pays?
Obama added 10 trillion to the national debt between 2008 and 2016, basically doubling it. That is deficit spending on top of what is collected through taxation, which was about 46 trillion. Even if the handful of billionaire's entire portfolio of wealth was seized it basically adds up to a rounding error. The entire sum would be burned through in a matter of a few months. So when Sanders and the rest of the neo-comrades of the Democrat Party talk about taxing millionaires and billionaires as if it is going to solve some financial shortfall in the federal budget its not only laughable, its deceitful. Anyone with a brain that can add numbers together can easily see that it wouldn't make a bit of difference. Bloomberg's $60 billion is about as significant to the federal budget as the flecks of dandruff on Sander's suit collar during the last debate.

My prediction is no Libs will respond to this thread, because they cannot debate with logic.

I'm proud of you OP. Nice.

I've seen this thread appear several times on GLP and no response is ever given. Kind of proves the OP's point, that they view taxation as a tool of political punishment.

Better to have a little stream of income than no income at all, dont you think?

You wouldn't have so much debt in not for the constant wars. Bush Junior should bear some responsibility too - I recall the debt was doing alright until the whole Iraq invasion thing.

The point is not where the debt came from its about how budget deficits relate to spending. If there is no concern whatsoever about the total debt then what difference does the size of the stream of income make? What if not a single millionaire or billionaire paid a penny in taxes? Would that impact at all what was spent? No. What if they all paid 90% in taxes? Would that impact what is spent? No. It would only impact how much would be borrowed and/or printed

We need to lower spending. Not raise taxes. We MUST cut government by 2/3rds. Leave military and basic functions only. I say stop paying congress and senate too. You will see the people jumping ship and realize it was always about the money and not their people.

Because, my economics wizard friend, if you have no income at all, then you have nothing to pay anything with, and the debt increases exponentially.

Take a bucket, make a hole in the bottom so the water pours out slowly, and at the same time put a hose to fill the bucket with a trickle of water - adjust until you can reach a level state, or a net gain of water in your bucket.

But that being said, taxes don't go to national debt alone, they pay for all sorts of things, including making sure your roads are usable, the fire department is manned, the military, and so on.

If you do not know what USA, Inc's true revenue stream is, how can debt be calculated? The only financial document you know about is the budget. Well, the budget doesn't mean jack sh*t!

You could personally make $80 million a year but say you have a budget of $200 thousand a year.

The Free Shit Army just want to feel better about their shitty lives if they think successful people are getting more take from them. Its really a passive / aggressive sickness = empowering government to forcefully confiscate the property of their fellow citizens while claiming to be "for the people". As if wealthy people aren't really "people".

Nothing matters cept one thing, take the control away from the world dominating group of NWO Elitist who have infiltrated our system with very long tentacles. Usury is rampant and has become the norm. Our complacency has led us into this bottomless pit. There is only one solution.
