You'd think a lot of vets would adopt these dogs.

These dogs are used to working so they're probably used to quite a bit of exercise. Something to consider for anyone thinking about adoption.

Or maybe ranchers who need cowboys working with cattle and horses?

The K9s can work well with both military members and civilians. However, applicants need to ensure that they have a 6-foot fence, no kids under the age of 5, and no more than 3 dogs already in their homes.

Also, the person must have their vet listed out on the application and provide references.

It's not wise to share the saliva of any other animal with yourself and mammals can share diseases so it's doubly-unwise in those cases.

I am on my second German Shepherd. Both were/are girls. Best dogs I have ever had. Extremely loyal and intelligent. But they are working dogs. If you don't have time to work them then the aggressiveness can get out of control. But if you walk them plenty and train them constantly they will be the best companion you ever have. But you must be the master! A strong No! Will work because all they want to do is please. No liberals need to apply. Alpha males only for these trained dogs. (Took 15 minutes to train both to walk beside me instead of in front. No leash, just a stick that I would place in front of her nose and a strong No and both were trained)

Any dog that comes up to another dog from below and licks their mouth like that is showing submission - so at least the white woman knows her place in the pack hierarchy!

That wolf is not showing submission. Wolves and some dogs like to lick INSIDE the mouths of their pack. It's a friendly gesture and I'm sure they gather a lot of info from it. It's not the same as a submissive (from low down) lick.
