To keep it brief, I went to a local clinic last week and had a friendly conversation with the nurse while we were in the exam room waiting on the doctor. Discussed mutual concern about the C-virus. I was hoping for some insight as to any instructions or preparations they'd been given. There wasn't anything more than what you'd expect. I went back for a follow up this week, Wed. Happened to talk to the same nurse. She said they had a patient come in sick that had been previously quarantined and cleared for the virus. She said they didn't let him get any farther than the lobby before asking him to leave. I reminded her how the test they're using are unreliable and that I hope they thoroughly disinfected the lobby... the look on her face told me they probably hadn't. No personnel were wearing any kind of protective equipment for their benefit or their patients. This was in southeast Michigan. Just thought I should let someone know outside my immediate circle, who mostly think I'm overreacting to the thing to begin with. |

She said her daughter had last weekend off and had made plans to go visit friends out of town. My friend's daughter was pissed but she also loves her job so she cancelled her plans and turned around. I asked what "full census" means and my friend said it means "EVERY BED IS FULL"! This is at our main hospital here in Asheville. They may be short on beds and this happens alot or it could mean they are getting overwhelmed. Not sure, just thought I would leave this here fwiw. This post has been resonating with me for a few days, since it's close to me in vicinity. Yesterday, took my daughter to the DMV, wanted to get Real ID that allows access to travel and federal buildings in case of evacuation... waited for 15 minutes in line and in walks Chinese lady with face mask on. WTF, she wasn't even there for herself, she was with a family member. OMG people are so inconsiderate. I had a moment of panic, realized how close this is to home and now in our towns and neighborhoods at high capacity. Wake up call, get ready, 2 weeks until total lockdown, it's coming fast. |
