And they cannot bring everyone to court, so don't worry too much about this. |

They just copyrighted 68.7 billion melodies and put them on a multi terabyte hard disk, which is all that is needed to be able to claim the copyrights. THEY OWN EVERYTHING! Total assholes... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77211257 I knew it was only a matter of time before this would happen, I was going to do this and patent the process but I knew it would stifle human creativity. Creativity? I worry it will stifle human. Think of all the coded frequencies that can be created. I'm 50, and at 4 minutes a song average, that's 109,500 songs if I listen 24 hours a day, and assuming I don't repeat. 68.5B is a lot of songs. Putting patents on all makes me think it is only for nefarious reasons. |

You come up with a song, some obscure band comes along and says "hey that sounds like the song we wrote in 1984" and the court system can sue you because it sounded similar even though it was by pure chance. But this takes it to a whole new level.. now you cant own any melody thats written within 1 octave and uses quarter notes. Soon they will expand it to multiple octaves as more compute resources come online... once quantum computers are out or more powerful AI i bet they will expand it further. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77444540 Their method proves that all combinations were generated and affixed to a physical medium( hard drive) so they granted the copyright.. No need to go check each melody, the mathematical method was brute force. All melodies are there. you cant win. |

THEY OWN EVERYTHING! Hello they have to copyright each one NOT POSSIBLE. Can’t just say I want to copyright this thing that has everything in existence.... please people let’s be a little smart here. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77444540 The courts granted their copyright. They have proven they generated all possible melodies, so they granted the copyright to all of them at once. |

In the near future super english language generating AI better than the ones already created by OpenAI (Trained using text from 8 million web pages, users could give GPT-2 a prompt—typically a sentence or two—and the model can create text that reads like natural English-language writing, even if the ideas contained within the words don't always relate to anything in the real world.) will generate and copyright all poems, jokes, limericks, scripts and novels. |

Good news, they could not compute songs that included bended notes, as it would result in too many possible combinations. so songs written around slide guitar for example like this should not be possible yet to brute force. |

Copyright Attorneys anyone? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78322556 but what then if a melody on that disk had already been copyrighted in the past - which there must be many samples - can the 2 attorneys be sued in court? |
