The Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918 spread around the world rather quickly and aggressively.
That was in spite of modern transportation, such as jet planes, modern autos and Princess Line cruise ships (boats like the Titanic weren't as common) and cargo containers not existing back then. Cultural, political internationalism also wasn't as dominant at the time too.
Hey, what me, worry?
.
Quoting: CSnow I believe that it took a long time. I believe it started wiping people out in 1913. Then we declared ww1 so the problem people [males 18 to 35] would be off fighting a war so civil unrest wouldn’t topple the governments. In 1917 the military announced a mystery virus but it had taken 4 years to reach around the globe. Ww1 was to cover up the Spanish flu deaths. It’s just a theory but it makes the most sense. It would have taken years back then to spread not 6 months like they tell us. Look how long this is taking to spread and it’s more virulent than the spanish flu(h1n1) was\ is Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75958720 I vaguely recall reading that the Spanish Flu happened in two waves in USA
