VERY INTERESTING article on animal borne diseases. Its suggested that conspiracy theorists into "bioweapons, 5G, vaccines" read it carefully and fully.

Coronavirus: The race to find the source in wildlife

The race is on to find out how the deadly coronavirus jumped from animals to humans. Helen Briggs looks at how scientists are trying to trace the source of the outbreak.

Somewhere in China, a bat flits across the sky, leaving a trace of coronavirus in its droppings, which fall to the forest floor. A wild animal, possibly a pangolin snuffling for insects among the leaves, picks up the infection from the excrement.

The novel virus circulates in wildlife. Eventually an infected animal is captured, and a person somehow catches the disease, then passes it on to workers at a wildlife market. A global outbreak is born.

The market in Wuhan, which was closed down after the outbreak, had a wild animal section, where live and slaughtered species were on sale, including body parts of camels, koalas and birds. The Guardian reports that an inventory at one shop listed live wolf pups, golden cicadas, scorpions, bamboo rats, squirrels, foxes, civets, hedgehogs (probably porcupines), salamanders, turtles and crocodiles.

Many of the viruses we have become familiar with in recent years have crossed over from wild animals. This is the story of Ebola, HIV, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (Sars) and now coronavirus.

China has again suspended the buying and selling of wild-animal products, which are commonly used for food, fur and in traditional medicines. Reports suggest this may be made permanent.

Re: COVID-19 DAILY HEADLINES - Falling behind? THE MAJOR KUNG FLU UPDATES ARE HERE EVERY DAY
In many ways the headlines this morning are more of the same. Number of infections are up, of course, and the officially bullshit number is more than 80,000. More financial doom, more supply chain disruptions, etc. Even though it’s mostly more of the same there are quite a lot of headlines to take in this morning, so let’s get into it:

• 70% of humanity will ultimately become infected - Harvard epidemiologist Marc Lipsitch
• China is using WeChat and Twitter to find and silence people sharing how bad it is over there
• China suspends annual session of Parliament until further notice – this would be like the US cancelling or suspending a session of Congress
• US infections ‘officially’ at 53. Considering we’re testing basically no one this number is as bullshit as the numbers out of China, possibly even more so – at least they’re testing people
• Health official leading Iran’s COVID-19 taskforce, Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi infected – maybe we’ll be lucky and Tardos will get it next
• WHO warns countries that this virus will soon be “literally knocking at the door” as they cancel trip to Iran – watch what they do, not what they say
• Coronavirus to cost the world $1 Trillion Dollars
• Trump asks Congress for $2.5 billion – Democrats push back saying this isn’t enough… because Orange Man Bad of course
• You would think the Canary Islands would be remote enough to dodge this virus, and you’d be mistaken. 1,000 guests locked down in hotel after infection confirmed
• Belgium says there’s no use even bothering to close the border, there’s no chance of keeping this virus out of the country
• Italian PM admits hospital improperly managed and contributed to spread of the virus – confirms what all GLP’ers know: a hospital is the last place you want to end up right now
• Epidemiologists agree that 2/3 of the infected are still undetected/undocumented and that chance to contain this virus is over
• No duh news: CDC says to not go to S. Korea

Re: COVID-19 DAILY HEADLINES - Falling behind? THE MAJOR KUNG FLU UPDATES ARE HERE EVERY DAY

BRACE FOR ECONOMIC MAYHEM

Based on my observations of a reasonable sized pool of people in China, I am betting there will be MAYHEM
We are getting close enough to the official re-opening date for the Chinese economy of march 2. There are a fair number of people who return to work before that, and a fair number that return in the 2 weeks after that date, and NO ONE I am paying attention to has returned. That is an anomaly that must be pointed out. If about 85 percent of China's work force has not returned to work by March 2, and it is instead something like 10 percent, it will be apocalyptic DOOM ON.

Keep in mind that everything coming out of China right now is controlled crap. There is a reason why I use the Oracle internet intelligence map and nothing else. Oracle is NOT a crap company or a lone talented individual, they are an absolute reference and they REALLY set up their data to allow anyone with experience to go over it and figure out what is happening in a nation.

Here is what is happening in China now:
There are still only 5, 000 or so people online, and they are definitely government workers on a global task force. This can easily be seen in the DNS query rate.
MASSIVE FREQUENT POWER OUTAGES

This is calculated by the traceroute completion ratio. In any stable country, this line is thin and smooth. But China's line, while remaining relatively smooth, is getting thick. This indicates that their large generating stations are staying online, but they are having TONS of local substation blowouts that are very bad, affecting a million or more people, and those blowouts are taking a long time to get fixed. That means there's absolute MAYHEM going on there.

China's power used to be perceptibly perfect. If you went over their chart last year, you could see that power was stable to within 0.1 percent. But now, it is constantly modulating within a range of never better than 0.5 percent out, to up to 3 percent out. What's 3 percent of 1.4 billion people? I'd say that's a HUGE power problem, things are cracking up there. You can't run industry with power that bad. It has to stay stable, having the lights flicker once can wipe out 10, 000 beany babies in one whack. Obviously things are not being tended to well.

It is clear that good or bad, the Chinese government is at least trying to keep the power stable (because overall it's not trending down) but it's not smooth anymore. There is obvious societal stress going on there now.

Rumor that is probably not rumor has it that the problem is twofold: People there are afraid of going to work because they are afraid they will catch the virus, and there are probably people still barricaded and awaiting disposal. China's work force is going to be smaller but by how much all depends on how deep this purge is, and/or how much the government lied about the lethality of the virus. If few people in Japan die, China's going to have a lot of explaining to do about bringing in all those incinerators and running the crematoriums full tilt, let alone their "official numbers" which despite being obvious patent B.S. are the only numbers the U.S. MSM will touch. One commie helps another . . . . .

The bottom line in all of this is that if you had any plans to get a new computer or other tech device, now is the time, because I doubt replacements will be arriving soon. I don't know how the food supply will be affected. We are approaching China's D-day, we will definitely know on Monday.

IF this was a legit virus: China's toast. Japan is TOAST. Korea is TOAST. And those countries are where all the tech toys are made. It will take probably a year and a half for anything at all to recover, if it does at all.

If there is a virus cover story for a Communist purge: People will cower in their homes afraid of a "virus", China will assign those who were not culled to jobs that get things pretty much back to normal by May. I doubt they'd kill over 100 million but we'll know it was a virus "plot" if China for the most part gets back to work by may. Either way, there will be epic worldwide mayhem over this.

Re: COVID-19 DAILY HEADLINES - Falling behind? THE MAJOR KUNG FLU UPDATES ARE HERE EVERY DAY
This continues to absolutely explode all over the world. The theme of the day is a combination of half economic doom as world markets continue to dump and half spread of the contagion, both running at break neck speeds.

News is moving so fast now that even 12 hours makes something “old news” for those of us keeping very close tabs on this, but part of the purpose of this thread is for people who can’t keep hourly tabs on this as well as people who are copypasta’ing these snapshots and sharing them with normie friends and family who (imo inexplicably) continue to call this a nothingburger. And on that note, doom ON ladies and germs:

CDC: “We are talking rapid fire and sustained transmission”, “Disruption to everyday life may be severe”, “We are asking the American public to prepare for the expectation that this might be bad”
• Kung Flu spreads to six additional European countries – Austria, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland now reporting cases
• Spread in Iran is almost certainly much, much worse than reported after hiding the outbreak there – Wuflu in Iran deserves it’s own breakdown
• Spread continues in Italy with children among new cases
• Coronavirus has spread to every continent except Antarctica after confirmed infection in Brazil
• Portfolio manager tells CNBC that “CEO’s have no clue on virus impact”, this will be a “lost earnings year” and “management have no clue what is going to happen”
• S. Korea official count climbs above 1,250, but JP Morgan says at least 10,000+ before possible peak, with S. Korea govt. calling the spread “super contagion”
• First US Soldier confirmed infected at Camp Walker in S. Korea, US Navy issues warnings
• Flight attendant who worked flights out of LAX, Seoul, and Tel Aviv infected – first news of infections of flight crew people have been wondering about
• Yet another cruise ship blocked from ports: MSC Meraviglia out of Miami, FL turned away from Jamaica and the Cayman Islands – anyone still “cruising” at this point has to be completely insane
• Gwyneth Paltrow wears a mask on flight to Paris, said she is “panicked” and “I’ve already been in this movie”

This is a question.

Singapore has had greater success than others at containing this virus. Could this be because Singapore is farther South? Could this virus be stronger in colder climates?

Perhaps this virus will weaken with the coming of spring.

Re: COVID-19 DAILY HEADLINES - Falling behind? THE MAJOR KUNG FLU UPDATES ARE HERE EVERY DAY
The big news of the day is the untraceable infection in California with no known ties to existing cases, travel to China, or contact with anyone who traveled to China. Of course, the entire lack of testing in the US has something to do with this “community spread” that's about to kick off in earnest. Doctors of the hospitalized patient knew he had the Kung Flu, and in spite of their suggestion to test him he didn’t fit the overly restrictive federal criteria. The CDC won’t test you if you haven’t either traveled to China yourself, or been a close contact of an already confirmed infection. Which makes it completely impossible to identify the community spread they keep saying we should expect. I guess we should just watch to see how many people in our workplaces, homes, schools, churches, or communities get sick and die around us, because they’re not going to identify the spread by not testing anyone. They literally want cases to go untested so this can continue to spread. There’s absolutely no other explanation for it. Other countries are testing hundreds and/or thousands of people a day, and we’re testing fuck-all-nobody. The testing the CDC said would begin “this week” still hasn’t materialized, and we just keep being told over and over that the “risk to the American people remains very low.” I wonder how many millions of infections we need before they actually come out and say the risk is very high? It doesn’t matter how many people are infected and die, they’ll obviously never say such a thing. This is legit like the dog meme where the house is completely on fire and he’s sitting there going “this is fine.”

Anyway, it’s a heavy news day again today, and it’s DOOM ON as usual, so here we go…

• First untraceable infection identified in California in spite of CDC refusal to test the patient for days after he was hospitalized – he was tested by another lab when he was on a ventilator and about to die, CDC refuses comment
• Dr. Osterholm at the University of Minnesota had this to say about the lack of testing going on: “I suspect there are a number of additional cases in this country that are transmitting this virus just like we’re seeing in other countries. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.”
• With infections confirmed in more than 40 countries, WHO still refuses to call this a pandemic. If you’re keeping up you know they never will even if every last person on the planet is infected.
• “I had no idea, apparently it’s all the kids are talking about on the playground” – some stupid parent. Children are more informed about the threat from this virus than their head-in-the-sand parents.
• There are zero plans in place for what happens when schools in the US close for possibly weeks at a time, superintendent of school district surprised at lack of CDC guidance – here at GLP we are NOT surprised
• Trump says US cases could “fall to zero in a few days” while Autralia’s Prime Minister launched emergency plans and said a pandamic is “very much upon us” – quite the contrast (and yes, I voted Trump)
• Coronavirus could lead to drug shortages in the US – if you’ve been keeping up this is ancient “news” from weeks ago, but it’s continuing to make headlines
• China reports rise in number of cases and warns of rebound of the virus there – I’m not sure what they thought was going to happen when they used police to force people back to work
• US begins testing Remdesivir in a human trial group with one group of patients receiving the actual drug and a placebo group receiving only a solution of only inactive ingredient – wouldn’t you just love it if one of your family was hospitalized with Kung Flu and was then given fake drugs?
• Doctors in Iran say Sars-CoV2 in Iran is vastly underreported, more serious than acknowledged, and getting worse due to govt. pretending there’s nothing wrong, lack of testing, and lack of basic supplies from beds to drugs

Break in the list for the really bad news of the day…

• S. Korean hospital claims virus R0 of 12 – would account for the daily doubling observed by commenters like Chris Martinson
• Japan closes all schools nationwide
• In Guangdong, China 14% of patients discharged from hospital after recovering and testing negative test positive again in later checkups – we’re seeing evidence of COVID-19 being biphasic here
• Japanese woman hospitalized in January, recovers, tests negative, is released, comes down with new symptoms, is hospitalized and tests positive a second time – more talking of COVID-19 being biphasic vs. reinfection
• World stock plunge wipes out $3 Trillion Dollars as Sars-CoV2 global spread continues

UPDATE: Vice President of Iran confirmed infected
