Costco Today-- Tell me what you've seen in your area.
For years I do an early morning Costco run on Sunday. I am always in a group of early birds who are there for the ten am opening.

Generally, the early bird crowd is about 10 people and we stand around chatting till the door is opened. Most of us are regulars.

Today I arrived at my usual time- 9:50- and there was a solid line of people with carts. Within the next ten minutes more showed up. The mood was tense, no one was speaking and everyone had a cart Ready to go. It was strangely reminiscent of the few times I did black Friday.

If I had to guess, I'd say there were at least 50-70 people. They had to let us in on both sides. I've never seen anything like this in all the years I've been shopping at Costco, and I've been a member for over ten years. I've been shopping at this one for six years.

Up until now, everyone I encountered in stores seemed relaxed, I noticed a few bare shelves, but it was the weekend and that happens sometimes in my community at the beginning of the month.

I live in Baton Rouge, LA. I did notice a few out in the open large scale preps being done.

Luckily for me, today is my last day.

Hope you guys are ready too. If people here are getting anxious, I can only imagine it's really about to hit the fan.

Anyone notice anything in your area?

I did a 2am run last night. $200 sugars, canned goods, rice, mason jars. I may be crazy but I will not starve.

All is totally normal in my neck of the woods (Tejas). No more busy than a weekend where certain demographics of people get they EBT drop gurrrl.

I am in the deep South. Everyone is at Church until noon. It's almost sacrilegious to shop before noon. In fact in the past, we had "blue laws" that would not allow you to buy certain items until a specific time on Sunday, or not at all. So yes, it is a lot of people.

Small town in NE Ohio here. Made a trip to Walmart Friday night. I noticed that as soon as you entered the door there were massive displays of 'prepper type foods (Large containers of oats, tuna in pouches, to name a few.) In they pharmacy there were displays of masks, gloves, and alcohol. The peanut butter selection was very small. The selection of bleach was very small.

Wouldn't actual potatoes be better? Then you can plant them and have a little crop going

I think people are just noticing things because they are LOOKING for them.

The things you described are also fast breakfast foods and good for lunches.

Re: Costco Today-- Tell me what you've seen in your area.
5 containers of stain additive bleach (unsuitable for treating water) left at local rural small town Walmart in Illinois. Huge section of empty shelving where normally dozens of containers sit. They had some at the Walgreen's across the street though. 2 boxes of matches left at Walmart. Otherwise, appeared normal.

Re: Costco Today-- Tell me what you've seen in your area.
Costco is our favorite place to get stuff and especially food, other than four legged critters out in the pasture or during hunting season. We try to only go once a month and they usually have everything, even last week they had an abundance of products.

Yesterday at Home depot picking up our online order we went down a few isles and I noticed even the N95 masks were still very well supplied. Most of the fear and paranoia is here online, restaurants full, movies packed, buildings going up. Most importantly the sky was blue and still there.

cheers

Went to Wal-Mart this morning before 8 small town eastern Michigan.
Everything was normal
No bare shelves. No crowds
Only thing I can't find is seedless red grapes.
Must be out of season. None for the past month.
Nothing out of the ordinary imo

My stores are fully stocked (so central MO) I don't do mega shopping...I divide it up with different stores, (grey man) this morning I hit our local grocery store again and I am getting ready to place an order on chewy...if nothing happens I won't have to go to the store for a very long time

I was at a Costco yesterday afternoon in San Antonio. Saw one person with a cart full of bottled water but everyone else looked like they were doing regular shopping. Didn’t see anyone coughing like I saw last week.

I only shop at Costco once a month ... last time I went, 2 weeks ago = it was well stocked, but something out of the ordinary was three chinese (tall orientals) pushing an EMPTY hand cart around the store, talking loudly and very animated, but obviously NOT shopping ... I saw them all over the store ... but their cart was always empty
