Iger has been trying to retire for about ten years now and at the request of the Board has continued to put it off. And he is not going far since his replacement will report directly to him instead of the BOD as is normal. Iger explained it is for better continuity and a smooth transition. He will be concentrating on Disney’s entertainment branch as in the artistic arm like movies and the new streaming behemoth Disney recently created instead of the theme parks and marketing aspect, and the artistic end has always been his strong suit. I see him finally stepping down in 2024 once he has established a strong direction for the streaming branch and the big screen division, expect a large barrage of new content programming on the streaming side with a healthy dose of traditional Disney classic to back it up, all content that will be unavailable any where else. On the big screen side, I see Iger pushing for the more traditional family oriented original animated classics that has largely fueled Disney’s success.
