MIndfulness versus Addiction
Mindfulness is:

-thinking before doing
-being in the now
-learning to tolerate discomfort
-experiencing the moment
-being in control

Addiction is:

-doing things without thinking, automatic, impulsively
-not being in the moment, in the now
-not tolerating discomfort
-esacaping, avoiding feelings, numbing out feelings/events
-not being in control

I'm posting this for the reason that I know there are individuals out there suffering from some sort of addiction. YOU have the power within yourself to overcome anything you put your mind to! I hope that this can atl east help one individual fight the fight that will help them create a foundation/platform to reconstruct the rest of their lives.

From someone who understands your stuggle..

God Bless you Friends hf

Great post OP.
Depends on the addiction though...some substances require serious lockdown detox or tapering...you can’t quit a heavy benzo habit cold turkey or you might die...first you need the willpower to quit then you cement it with mindful attitudes once you stop puking and sweating.

I absolutely agree with you friend. Certain substances need to be managed in a way that slowly as you put it, tapers the individual off said substance. Alcohol / benzo users need to be monitored and slowly tapered off the substance in order to not experience complications due to the possible negative side effects of withdrawal. Having experienced first hand all of the above I can honestly state the obvious, "It's not fun".
Having said this now & having come back from the dead so to speak... If I can do it you can do it too!!

Anything & everything is possible!! You just need to give it your all!!

You Are Worth It!!! hf

take this for what it is

seems to me like you might be in a bad place..

now this is just an assumption based on your reply.

if this is the case then all is not lost

you have a choice friend..

i hope you choose the right path

and yes i agree with you about this world.. it may be "dumb"

having said that, it is what we make of it.

i truly hope you make yours a better reality and do unto others as you would like to have done unto you.

wishing you a great day and all the best to you ac hf

Re: MIndfulness versus Addiction
good post, op.

accepting the discomfort is key.

the discomfort of not having your addiction pushes you to it, you give into it to rid yourself of that discomfort anxiety.

so when u get that "feeling" you have to sit in it, wait it out, understand what it is.

most people dont care and choose to just smoothe that feeling away with booze, drugs, gambling, etc.
