Developing New Thinking Habits
1. Awareness- Awareness is the first step toward stopping a behavior cycle that keeps you from doing things that you really don't want to do. The more you learn about cycles, the more control you will have over them.

2. Thought Stopping- If you are aware that you are using negative WOIT (ways of thinking), make a commitment to mentally turn your thoughts away. This will involve saying loudly to yourself "STOP" once you are aware of the thought. You can also visualize a stop sign or whatever imagery you find works for you in order to achieve the stop process.

3. Reframe your Thinking- Reframing involves reviewing what was going on in the situation and exploring how you might have thought about it differently. Reframing means seeing something from a different angle, and directing thoughts in a more positive direction.

4. Challenge/dispute thoughts- Identify your ways of thinking and challenge the thought by asking questions. Examples, Am i being realistic or unrealistic? Am I blaming others? Am i taking responsibility in this situation? It is important to be honest with yourself. **Replace the negative thoughts with positive ones!

5. Practice open Thinking- Be open to ideas, views and perceptions of others. If you react defensively or in anger when you hear or read something that challenges your beliefs, you may overloook an idea that could help you. Practice acceptance of positive criticism. When you listen with interest at the ideas of others, you may learn something.

6. Accept personal responsibility before taking a "victim stance"- Own up to your mistakes in thinking and behaviors rather than dodging them.

7. Consider consequences rather than thinking you can control them- Before acting, you need to stop and get a picture in your mind of the consequences suffered by yourself or other in the past and consider future potential consequences.

Also include critical thinking before making life choices. Avoid the banana peel a wrong choice causes.

Pray to Elohim (God), ask for forgiveness, ask for guidance. Let the Holy Spirit come upon you by accepting Yeshua (Jesus) as the son of Elohim. Open the Bible and be guided, in spirit and prayer.

It works.

Re: Developing New Thinking Habits
I have always had negative thoughts that told Me that I was worthless or unlovable and they have plagued Me My whole life. The fucked up thing as a man those thoughts can literally destroy Your life because You won't ever be able to have a relationship until You start having positive thoughts. I know I had plenty of very good looking options that I pushed away before the relationship started and I really regret that to this day.

Nice, you reinvented the wheel... Try calling it "critical thinking" they start teaching it in like 3rd grade.

I am truly sorry to hear about your struggle friend...

I highly recommend this book to you [link to jongordon.com] . It's a short read and will hopefully help you start to turn things around. It all starts with you and a desire to change. You can do it! I believe in you! Now you have to start believing in yourself.
The power of positive thinking is incredible and has changed my life.
From my heart to yours hf

God Bless You!
