Panic Buying In the US Has Begun!

It’s been on the news here in South FL. Not a mask to be found. Cleaning wipes and hand sanitizer shelves empty. I’ve seen that first hand. I’m going to try to get another box of disposable gloves later. I brought anti-viral tissues to work today for the random people I see all day!

Most big box stores have a neat little trick called "STRETCHING"....Making shelves look full by facing two rows forward and taking one product and filling many holes.

Things look normal but are they?

I got asked by the grocery bagger what I was buying so much of the same stuff for. Told them I was donating it to the food bank because I didn’t want to sound crazy . No panic buying in Iowa that I’ve seen.

Sale on water and tuna was on sale for 58 cents

Same here, most here are fine, reasonably well stocked, willing to share and unafraid of this causing anything life threatening before next winter.

Lot of talk about the economic hardship coming. People I know are starting to carry more on a daily basis and rewire their brains for what is being perceived as a hard time coming late this year and going forward.

I went to two grocery stores today and bought about $50 in food/supplies each time. No panic, no sign of hording/stocking. Tons of people out but everyone seems calm and reasonable.

I know a lot of people with cc licenses. They seem to be "practicing" daily carry more. At a recent meeting for coffee, one friend that normally pocket carries was showing off his underarm holster, another was showing off his new belt attached conceal, and a.third was talking about his briefcase carry he just started carrying.

I know I have been carrying more in the car or when out walking. (My Leatherman of course, the guns were lost when the boat sank).

Not really, but they carry the makeup I like and we don't have a whole lot of shopping selections here, if you must know.

funny to hear and see people stocking up water as there are so many better options than buying 16oz bottles . Hell most houses have at least 50 gallons stored in them everyday !!!

Fortunately because of the UK'S no deal Brexit planning in late 2018 there is ample supplies in this country and an emergence of the UK farming industry.

Tough luck on other countries.

Right. Lady looked at my cans of meat and wondered why I was getting them. I said that I'm making a big pot of chili and the cans are super easy.

If worse comes to worse, I got plenty of old newspaper. I'll have to crumple it up a bit so it's not so rough.

Least you can't buy things like face masks with food stamps. They'll just have to give up their crack and booze money to buy some, if they can find them. Haven't seen them at my local walmart for weeks.

Fortuitous the authorities have not taken our guns yet, they could be useful.

Saw a guy at walmart with a whole cart full of canned goods. Like literally filled to the top. Either a prepper or someone got their food stamp moneys.

Just use cotton cloth towels or bandanas.

Most people are going to go out high or drunk and praying for an asteroid or nuke.

Central Maryland, The local health food store, which is very big and nice for a health food store, the cashier said he hadn't really noticed anyone stocking up, the regular grocery store was stocked but there were some holes where some bleach and hand wipes were,that item was gone but there were other brands well stocked, I stopped looking for hand sanitizer so can't report on that.

Re usable toilet paper.

Husband just got home with the last of the supplies. No bleach in Walmart though. He went back out to get it at the grocery store.

Wow, that was right on the edge. I thought we had another week before panic buying started.

I do all my shopping on amazon so have fun in the stores yall.

Two days ago I watched the last mask get purchased after checking all normal areas, it was in the very back of Walmart with landscaping, at Hot Springs AR.

I also noticed the difference in how they had set up the store with canned food on end caps.
It seemed like everyone stocking up was giving off a weird vibe, like they were stealth panic buying.

I thought then this is about to go bad in a hurry. So glad I started long ago.

which is why I would never live there. It's in the middle of the ocean and there are more people living there than there is fresh water to serve them.
South west desert area, also. I wouldn't want to live anywhere that I have to rely on the system for basic needs, like food and water.
