.22LR is really all you would ever need to protect yourself , hunt game, perfect caliber for survival situations. You can carry 500 rounds like it was nothing. A Ruger 10/22 takedown rifle and a Ruger Mark IV pistol would be a nice set up

Gun advocates complain they cannot get an automatic long gun. Guess what a shotgun is? 9 "bullets" (2-3/4" 00 Buck) with one pull of the trigger. Like the old WWII Browning Automatic Rifle. (15 "bullets" for a 3" round)
