Sanitation has provided modern society with many things; less disease, improved standard of living, less chance of spreading infection. But it has also accelerated to a point of being overkill; soap, shower, bath, sanitizer.
Human beings need practice for their immune systems to build up the strength to fight against infection. If you are part of the sanitation nation, you're in a tough spot. Once the sanitary methods are extinguished you'll be at a higher risk of getting sick, and it will be mentally taxing as well.
