BREAKING--Washington county tells 2.2 mil residents to work from home, anyone over 60 stay indoors
A Washington state county, where 31 coronavirus cases and 9 deaths have been reported, has recommended to its 2.2 million residents that they should work from home to help slow the spread of the infectious disease, and further urged everyone over 60 to stay indoors.

Public Health officials in King County on Wednesday recommended that businesses allow their employees to telecommute throughout March in an effort to reduce the amount of face-to-face contact between large numbers of people during this “critical period” in the COVID-19 outbreak.

Keeping the telecommuters like me out of their hair will help keep it from spreading onto the people who do real work.

Thanks for the quick pin. This is huge news.

This virus/"weapon" is very odd. Children get very mild symptoms but can transmit it, older adults die and the ones in between seem to suffer the most.

For them to come out and sat this, it's way worse than they are telling anyone.

This has also gone beyond clusters.... Its very much community spread now.

Exactly my first thought. This will slowly shut down the economy along the coasts.

Imagine what will happen when the midwest farmers get infected and they stop growing crops and raising meat?

Nothing wrong about this.

The more pre-existing conditions you have, the more at risk you are.

Especially important; heart problems, fragile lungs

Now please tell me, are these things most common among children, or older people?

FYI, King County includes the headquarters of Microsoft, with over 50,000 employees, a third of their workforce, Amazon, Costco, Starbucks HQ's among others.

This is exactly how I told my manager that I'd develop a bio-weapon if I was an evil dictator who wanted to do mass damage. It'd be something that was highly infectious among children and would give them absolutely no symptoms. Anyone who has children knows that they pick up everything and transmit it to everyone around them.

I would make it sex specific too so that it is more severe to men.

I would wait until my enemy was subdued and then I would attack.

That being said, I'm not an evil dictator, so everyone is fine.

This is a great example of who should be wearing an N-95 mask and latex or nitrile gloves (doubled up).

That's how you really stem this.

"Over 60 stay indoors"

I assume they mean that for those living in densely populated places (apartments, town homes, tight-line neighborhoods, etc.) and not people with acreage around their homes or in the countryside.
