Endemic  Here are the officially reported Case Fatality Rates of closed cases as of a couple days ago (i.e. they exclude the cases in which the person is still sick): USA -- (14 dead, 15 recovered) = 14/29 = 48% Italy -- (197d, 523r) = 197/721 = 27% South Korea -- (43d, 136r) = 43/179 = 24% Spain -- (5d, 3r) = 5/8 = 63% China -- (3,042d, 53,929r) = 5.3% Also, there are now reports of 'recovered' patients going back into the hospital and dying. The numbers above get even worse if some/many/all of the recovered patients end up relapsing and dying once the virus fully runs its course. China would be the closest to accuracy as far as "case fatality rate" at this point. Since it has been experiencing this outbreak for much longer than the other countries you cited. The Diamond Princess might also give a more accurate picture (being isolated off). The disease takes several weeks to run it full course, and people sick from other conditions will die quickly. It's bad, but most will get through this and develop immunity, even if they get an undetectable version of it. Pretty much everything you just said is false. Everyone knows China is severely lying about their numbers. Get your head out of the sand. |

Thread: Italy ICU doctor: 9/10 are male patients ! Just 2/10 have co-morbidities . Lots of young peoples are getting critically ill ! Wow. 9/10 males. They just need to fucking sit still and wait. We have a son in high school, and the school is literally refusing to communicate with us about this. I want to just pull him out and put him back in K-12, but I know the "authorities" would just lose their shit over that, for a guaranteed bad outcome, instead of just the near certainty of infection. And my husband's on anti-rejection meds. They just don't give two flying fucks. And if I explained to my son now why we need to do this, he'd just freak out. It's not like I'm protecting him from the truth, but I don't want him living in fear of this thing. For fuck sake, we have health ministers in Canada breaking down and sobbing during updates because it's THAT bad. Might as well just blow my fucking brains out and get it over with. I have asthma, and lung damage from previous severe childhood fungal infections. Even though I feel great and am the healthiest I've ever been, I don't know how this will affect me with my limited lung capacity. I don't want him to be an orphan, yet they just don't give a flying fuck. They'll die too. The principle is old and fat. |

Have you stopped to think about most of our government officials are older than 65, that many people with parents older than 65 are more vulnerable to die, that some of us are approaching said age....what a ignorant thing to say. |

Endemic I actually read this thread this morning... was busy all day but my gut feeling was that this statement has been totally concocted. In the US, we are not anywhere near the number of infections necessary to declare this disease endemic. I looked all over the evergreen site, CDC, King County Dept of Health, etc and couldn't find anything echoing what's been stated here. All of the relevant sites indicate that suspected infections should self quarantine and contact their doctor to schedule testing. FAKE NEWS I also believe the screen cap is totally made up. |
