Look at the map. The "military" already took a huge chunk of land just north of this area. They did it to push the public back from Area 51s eastern border. They probably wanted this land at the same time but it was too much. Now that people are finding strange things there, they will push the public back again.

True, that is all one huge continuous chunk of restricted land. They call it different names but it is all just a buffer for Area 51.
