Old-timers in New Orleans "make groceries" at the store. This is another one that has French origins, as a rough translation from "faire son marché," which means to do one's grocery shopping. Since "faire" means both "to do" and "to make," making groceries came from a slight error in translation from French to English.

That's crazy because I'm just outside of BR and my Walmart has been out of masks for weeks. I bought some of that new MicroBan cleaner just last week. They still had plenty of Clorox wipes. Go to some of the outlying Walmarts or Dollar Generals if you still need stuff. I'd be willing to bet Baker is still full on cleaning supplies.

But yeah, for the most part I just got what I do for a hurricane. Maybe a little more cleaners. Otherwise, we all know the drill.

I've got a feeling that this mess isnt real but that wont stop our govenor from locking us down. So I've prepped anyway. Best of luck to you and yours!! We may have horrible health care but we have the best people!

Seriously though, my husband had to go to NOLA for business last week. When he got home tonight, he looked and sounded sick. Told him he sounded like he has the flu. We both laughed about him having Covid. We had not heard about the cases in NOLA. I think he went to sleep not knowing that there are now now several cases in LA.

let's see, incubation can be up to 14+ days before people begin showing symptoms, Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday)in New Orleans ends 15 days ago, possibly a million people from around the world and locals packed into the French Quarter for days go home and now the virus shows up, coincidence?

St Tammany also and WAY too close to home for our comfort. Any idea what hospital the latest patient is at? WWL just says “North Shore hospital”.

I just heard as well. I’m going to ask my friend who is a nurse and see what she’s heard. She works at a Nursing Home and last week they were trying to prepare.

Got to work this morning and started cleaning desks and door knobs. Probably useless at this point. My 15 yr old is going to loose her shit when she hears this. She would go to school in a Hazmat suit at this point if she could.

So far, there is no information on which hospital.

It might be a good idea to follow the Louisiana Department of Health on Twitter. They are going to keep updating with current information.

I’m going to reactivate my twitter. Northshore could be Slidell, Mandeville, Covington.... although I “heard” it’s not Slidell no other info was given. I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before it’s all over.

For everyone looking for supplies make sure to hit up the Dollar Generals, Big Lots and Rouses....they had plenty. Might not after today. Last night my friend ran to Home Depot and she said they had Lysol and cleaning stuff and Charmin value packs.

BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Nursing Home Association took a strong position in their efforts to prevent the Coronavirus from entering nursing homes in Louisiana. The virus is spreading across the country and right here in Louisiana.

"LNHA asks that the public support efforts to protect nursing facility residents by not visiting a nursing facility until further notice in order to limit potential exposure," Mark Berger, executive director of the Louisiana Nursing Home Association said. Well, just so you know, the Tulane primate center in Covington has the virus and are trying to make a vaccine, so there's that.
