Especially taking into consideration the re-emergence of tuberculosis since the influx of migrants from countries with few health care resources. I remember reading about the tuberculosis that the immigrant children were bringing into the schools in California, and feeling so sad that the great effort that the US had put into defeating TB was down the drain now. The article seems to be very well researched. Maybe a game changer? *** Good deeds bring rewards, bad actions bring troubles. That is a law of the universe. *** |

~OM~ User ID: 78594131 ![]() 03/10/2020 09:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have to say I share the theory and that maybe it is a mycobacteria sensitive to some families of antibiotics. I got to think this a few weeks ago. I have been fighting a nasty cold almost since end of january. It was viral and quickly got into bronchial and turned bacterial. I started using some wide spectrum ABx, but everything "normal", congested and pneumonic, but not even the worst I've had. Going to work, using a mask very early on to avoid spread and people freaking out & making fun of me. People's normalcy bias is the epitome of dumb. Anyway, I'm already out of the ABx's treatment and way better, but still slowly recuperating. Then I get the worst feeling Saturday morning post an ER shift. So much I called up a pharmacy and ordered some heavy duty step-up ABx. In a matter of hours it went downhill. Lots of coughing, dry cough, so violent I almost passed out a few times and may have pulled a muscle. I started getting a fever, (which I did not had before nor usually have). Immediately took the meds and some Tylenol. Not hungry at all, sleeping and sweating, fever on the 39.5c Waking up to the bathroom and shaking, dizzy not being able to almost walk. Only drank like 5lts of water with rehidratation salts. Had to take more meds for the fever every few hours to keep the temp barely on 38c Next day prepared some oatmeal and did not even taste it. Horribly tired, sore muscles, pain on the kidneys area & the diaphragm. Almost did not developed phlegm. The diaphragm pain from the tired and sore muscles was making it hard to even breath. I have been considering the theory since that: 1. the pathogen has been around longer 2. that that was it 3. that it is somehow a mycoplasm and not a virus. 4. that the ABx (a Macrolide) save me and caught it on the first hours. --- Since then I have been keeping an eye on how many Pneumonias we have been getting on the wards. Getting early and looking at the diagnosis on ALL records. Half or more...which is a lot more than usual. |

And I have one idea. If it is indeed a mycoplasm, it is on the Tuberculosis family, and on those countries where TB is common, they are ALL vaccinated with "BCG" (Bacille Calmette-Guérin) Not so much in the first world countries where TB is not common and COVID is spreading more aggressively.. India, Africa & SA surely are. Russia I am not sure if it is routinely administered. I have a hunch that yes. --- opinions? |
