Re: My son has COVID-19. He lives in SF
Mild sniffles
Stiff neck
Feeling run down.

Sounds like what I have right now, minus the stiff neck, add mild sore throat and mild cough. I had attributed it to allergies. Started about a week ago.
 Quoting: Turd Ferguson, Jr.

My husband has something similar. I had a sore throat for two days. But I'm fine now.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77885366

I could have picked it up from a couple I'm friends with who had something similar but more severe. They both work at a hospital. But I also spent some time around 3 Koreans about 2 and a half weeks ago and one of them kept sniffing his nose.

He was at the conference in SF where the guy who had to be flown to CT and is in a medically induced coma.

My son's symptoms are:

Mild sniffles
Stiff neck
Feeling run down.

NO: Fever, or aches and pains.

It took a week before he was deemed 'qualified' to be tested.

Then it took 5 days for the results to come back.

He'll go back for testing to see if he's stopped 'shedding' the virus.

I sent him the liposome vitamin C that Trin recommended along w/the copper.

Just wanted to let you all know what's up.

You help me with all the valuable info, so ....

Praying that Rob recovers quickly

Prayers for your son, and I think there was a thread about people ill with a stiff neck - I think a lot of us have had it already and never even knew.

If he starts getting really bad headaches or avoiding bright lights, it might be meningitis because 'stiff neck' isn't a sign of CV.

It's the "Everything but the Kitchen Sink" Virus with classifying anything and everything as a "symptom".
There is the first person in the Georgia Quarantine Center at Hard Labor State Park. Their lone "inmate/patient" doesn't have a cough or fever, he has extreme pain in his joints.
That's it. I'm surprised they would test someone (supposedly), who isn't even coughing or having respitory issues.

Interesting that he has no fever, means that we can never know who really has it without testing.

He thought it was b/c of the way he slept. It lasted a couple of days and is gone.

That's exactly what thought initially, but he had no fever.
 Quoting: JanJan

Has he had any rashes lately?
 Quoting: keybored

No rashes.

Hi OP... just saw this thread....

Great he is doing well and thank you for sharing this.... Hope you dont mind me asking a cpl of questions...

Has he had an x-ray? If so what does it show.

As he is tested.... did they give an opinion regarding strain..... Was it L or S.....
 Quoting: Cynical Realist WASH HANDS

No x-ray and I'm asking him today when I call if he knows the strain. My guess would be S

I know people think that if a guy lives in SF he's gay.

He knows that too and finds it to be a pain in the ass, but understandable.

He can't wait to get the hell out of there. It's a cesspool.

Wants to move to Austin to be near his sister and her family.

As do I!

Yeah, keep an eye on the stiff neck -- if it should happen to come back. That can be a sign of meningitis, and that can be pretty serious. (As someone with Lyme, I know meningitis firsthand!)

This thing is so protean ... doesn't have a really classical presentation, meaning that a lot of cases are being missed.

Prayers for your son's recovery, and for calm for you and his wife and kids. I hope they remain healthy!

Only as a secondry infection... This would then be a BACTERIAL one.... Stiff neck is likely to be muscle related.
IF YOU HAVE A FEVER DO NOT LOWER IT WITH MEDS.... A FEVER IS AN IMMUNE SYSTEM RESPONSE TO A PATHOGEN (VIRUS, BACTERIA ETC..) IT MEANS YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS WORKING PROPERLY....DONT USE DRUGS TO LOWER YOUR TEMP.

I had a stiff neck many years ago and I could not turn my head. I recall one of the test they did was a tuberculin skin test. It was negative. I put that in current context where there have been some in the medical fields that are claiming that some of the patients being said to have "the virus" actually have tuberculosis and the more drug resistent strains brought on by influx of immigrants. It's like when the settlers had one set of immunities built up and natives of the Americas had their own and they both were vulnerable to each other's diseases, though.

I would be looking into that, as well.

RSA event ended 2 weeks ago today. Guy from Wilton CT had an underlying heart condition so it hit him hard. Reports said he works for Exabeam so if you went to their booth or cocktail event be vigiliant. Last report from his wife said he was in medically induced coma at Danbury hospital. She has a GoFund called "Conquering Covid19" set up and it at about $89k today. No update from her last night so I hope that is not a bad omen.

I go to that conference every year, last year I was sick as a dog in my hotel room for a whole day. 40k people on the expo floor shaking hands with each other is a hell of a way to spread germs. Thankfully this year I held customer meetings in an offsite hotel suite and never set foot near Moscone. Japan does it right, they don't shake hands and when someone is sick, they wear a mask out of respect for fellow citizens.

My employer was on the fence about the event. One of my colleagues bailed while the rest decided to go. A few of them said they had a mild cough when they got home but nobody had fevers or shortness of breath. Could be that we all got exposed. We're at day 14 now so maybe we're out of the woods, who knows. Several large firms pulled out ahead of that event, Verizon, AT&T, IBM, and a few others. RSA was owned by Dell but was just spun off I believe. It is "the" biggest cybersecurity event of the year and takes up 3 of the 4 halls at Moscone.

OP, hope your son is OK.

My guess as to why he qualified to be tested:

He was at a conference were others came down with it.

The person who was flown home and is in Danbury hospital is a software engineer in his company - works remotely - but attended the conference in SF.
