Re: REAL INTEL - Massachusetts to Issue SHELTER IN PLACE March 15th
I guess "Shelter in Place" just sounds better than "Shelter wherever you think the next 30 days of your life could be best spent." .
 Quoting: Revbo™

No, it's actually a term used by the CDC and law enforcement in reference to specific types of emergencies...

[link to emergency.cdc.gov (secure)]

1dunno1 I don't have any vested interest in OP being correct or not. Maybe you do?

I just don't see that level of confinement happening.

I'm aware of the terminology. I'm just saying, if they do issue such an order, there will be some flexibility. When we've got a tornado warning in place around here, for instance, and we hear, "SHELTER IN PLACE!" all over the radio, cops aren't out arresting people for driving home from work early as opposed to taking shelter at the office.

And I have no vested interest in OP being right. Don't know the guy.

Re: REAL INTEL - Massachusetts to Issue SHELTER IN PLACE March 15th
Just got this information sent to me by a reputable source in the Massachusetts government. Governor Baker will be issuing a shelter in place order for Massachusetts on Sunday March 15th.

Does anyone remember the dates of MARCH 15th & MARCH 16th being floated around by AC’s on multiple threads?

Looks like we had a real informant.

Massachusetts, this is your last chance to prep. DO IT NOW.
 Quoting: AmericanSpyglass

I can confirm.
 Quoting: SkyTraveler

Thanks for the confirmation. Remember, Trump has more measures to announce on Sunday night.

Any reason why this was unpinned when there are three GLP users with evidence, and a testimonial backed this up?

No problem...

MEMA has issued memos outlining issues and actions. They were waiting for presidential press conference and the announcement of NE.

The press conference reviewed the federal plan to slow the curve to a small hill. (my quote may be off slightly) MA is seeing growth. Possible community spread in Berkshires. See pg 5ish. Look for Trinity commenting on article. The number of nurses quarantined is not acceptable by leadership. Also Middlesex County has highest growth pattern which is not slowing. DPH is aware along with leadership that quarantined positives/presumptive positive people did not honor this and moved within public. People were asymptomatic.

In order to change the upward momentum Gov needs to make firm decision swiftly. Shelter in place. Presidents declaration releases funding authorization etc for Gov to do what he must.

They are weighing all options. Calls hourly. Data updates and weighing resources. President may declare national shelter in place prior to this or in conjunction. Bottom line though they must stop the movement to manage the spread in MA. Leadership knows it’s serious and wants to minimize impact. However impact is unavoidable.

Tough week and tougher ahead.

Best to you.

Hello I’ve been reading this site for years. And a lot lately with the Coronavirus. Decided to sign up after seeing this post. I’m in Massachusetts and want to chime in. I just have a bad feeling about this. I do think this is possible. I remember after the marathon bombings when they did it. Also we got a few big snowstorms and they did a state wide travel ban. Which I feel was not necessary. I feel it was a practice run for both they just needed a good excuse to do it. I don’t understand the school closings right now. My town is closed for weeks and so are lots of other towns around me. There are 0 confirmed cases in my town and numerous towns surrounding me. So wtf?? I feel it’s the first steps in a statewide shutdown. Maybe not Sunday but definitely soon. This state loves to control the people.

You're right. People in Massachusetts are so fucked up mentally. That's why they voted in Elizabeth Warren. Only really mentally, emotionally sick people would vote for her. All the biggest assholes, like Dukakis, the Kennedys - even Adam Schitt and Bloomberg are originally from Massachusetts.

I've wanted to move for 30 fucking years, but I've been stuck because of elderly relatives whom I could not get to move. I just fucking HATE Massachusetts and I kind of wish the Chinese would nuke it. Especially Boston. A direct hit on Harvard and MIT would only be for the good of humanity.
 Quoting: Blue State Rebel

I agree. so many people here, at least in the eastern part of the state are brain dead lemmings. They vote against their own interests and their own freedom. I don't like living in this state either, it's pathetic and authoritarian when it claims to be progressive. It's so corrupt and the thing is most people don't even care. They keep going on with life like everything's fine when things couldn't be more broken.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 52968775

You are absolutely right, I have the same impression of this state. It's VERY VERY AUTHORITARIAN. That's the nature of Mass, which is funny because they are supposed to be liberals.....but they are the exact opposite of liberal. They are very very rigid conformists who do whatever the authority figures tell them. I absolutely hate this state and always have.

It's funny but my distant ancestors came here in 1635 and helped establish towns like Boston, Charlestown, Dedham, etc. They were Puritans and I don't think that strain ever stopped. My remote ancestor in those days was actually branded for sticking up for the Quakers and forced to leave Mass. He went to Rhode Island....which even though it is liberal, the people are INFINITELY BETTER. Much better people. I want to move there but we're trying to figure it out after literally decades of demented elder care. I cannot WAIT to leave Mass, the people here are horrible. Stupid, corrupt, lemming like, hyper competitive, ignorant assholes.

The majority of Americans are probably sane enough enough at times like this to grasp the need to follow the general concept of Stay The Fuck Home as much as possible - in their interest and that of others.

But, unfortunately, there are a large number who aren't and who won't and who have to be forced to do it - in the interest of those busting their butts and risking themselves providing critical services, including healthcare.

Hey BY,

I agree with you in principle. My concern is that the growth rate is moving up too fast. Leadership is very concerned and ESE was alerted and messaged down. Leadership wants to be organized and protect the safety of children. Many use school (child care) to go to work. This is a multi tiered challenge.

Leadership’s goal is to protect and defend all in commonwealth. Will it be perfect. NO. Will it be uncomfortable. YES. We’re in new territory. All are making an effort to do their part while trying to understand the virus risks. There is community spread and leadership is very concerned about hospitals, medical staff and meeting patients needs.

I’m not going to speculate about the virus. But I’m taking it VERY seriously. Practice good hygiene, eating, physical health etc. Vitamin C and Chaga. No sugar. No booze smoke etc. Help your family and neighbors. People are frightened and anxiety is HIGH. This can present as anger. Be aware and be wise with your choices.

Take care of you. You can’t help anyone if you’re losing your shit. If you’re a leader lose your shit alone. One minute. Then regroup.

Put on your favorite song and dance it out alone or not. Breathe and settle your mind.

Your humanity is invaluable. Your presence in this time is no coincidence. You and I and each of us were born into it. For good or ill. We rise or fall with our integrity intact or not.

I imagine taking my last breath. I breath in and then out. I want to do so with little or no regrets. I can bring nothing with me other than what I have offered others.

Be well my fellow traveler. May you shine your light to help others find their way.

Yes. Good observation.

Please understand the virus is more serious than people realize. And it’s ability to paralyze the medical system and contaminate medical personnel is SERIOUS.

Hang in there. Avoid public contact as much as possible. Practice aggressive hygiene. If you go into community and go home take clothes off, wash immediately or bag, shoes out of house, wash hands, wash phone then take a shower and scrub.

That's not going to happen in my area.

First off, the citizens here would take any form of quarantine as a personal challenge.

Second, the local law would not agree to enforcing this bullshit.

You're right. I'm in Middlesex county and people need to take all these measures and whatever other measures they feel are necessary in order to protect themselves and their families. Buy things online, don't go to the store unless it's an emergency. I don't think most people realize the danger they are putting themselves in every time they go to a crowded public area. Most people won't die of they catch the virus but it can reduce lung capacity and cause long term health issues. That's bad enough for me. Share things with your friends and neighbors if you can spare any. We all need to help each other during this crisis.
