"We have very strong emergency powers under the Stafford Act," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday. "I have it memorized, practically, as to the powers in that act. And if I need to do something, I'll do it. I have the right to do a lot of things that people don't even know about." The United States Congress has enacted a number of exceptions to these general prohibitions that allow the military, in certain situations, to assist civilian law enforcement agencies in enforcing the laws of the U.S. The most common examples are the support activities authorized under Chapter 15 of Title 10 (10 USC Sections 271-284), such as the provision of information collected during military operations, the use of military equipment and facilities, and the maintenance and operation of equipment. Other examples include: * Counterdrug and counter-transnational organized crime assistance (10 USC Section 284). This statute authorizes the Department of Defense to provide certain expanded, non-reimbursable support to the counterdrug or counter-transnational organized crime activities of law enforcement agencies. * The Insurrection Act, Chapter 13 of Title 10 (10 USC Sections 251-255). This act allows the President to use U.S. military personnel at the request of a state legislature or governor to suppress insurrections. It also allows the president to use federal troops to enforce federal laws when rebellion against the authority of the U.S. makes it impracticable to enforce the laws of the U.S. by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings. * Assistance in the case of crimes involving nuclear materials (18 USC Section 831). This statute permits Department of Defense personnel to assist the Justice Department in enforcing prohibitions regarding nuclear materials, when the Attorney General and the Secretary of Defense jointly determine that an “emergency situation” exists that poses a serious threat to U.S. interests and is beyond the capability of civilian law enforcement agencies. * Emergency situations involving weapons of mass destruction (10 USC Section 282). When the Attorney General and the Secretary of Defense jointly determine that an “emergency situation” exists that poses a serious threat to U.S. interests and is beyond the capability of civilian law enforcement agencies, Department of Defense personnel may assist the Justice Department in enforcing prohibitions regarding weapons of mass destruction. Military support to civilian law enforcement is carried out in strict compliance with the Constitution and U.S. laws and under the direction of the President and Secretary of Defense. The Stafford act isn’t shit. Had he declared a national emergency, his executive powers would have been nearly unlimited. He could have suspended elections, laws, etc. And that’s how you know Trump is on the side of the people. The stafford act is primarily about FEMA and requires governors of respective states to declare an emergency and ask for help from the Federal government before they will act. You can read the language yourself. The Stafford act neutered Trump, had he been the dictator hitler like leader the left says he is, he would have declared a national emergency under the guise of the corona virus and suspended the elections. Instead, he gave power to the States to make their own decisions. |

Instead, he gave power to the States to make their own decisions. He gave power to the governors to do lockdowns and mandates and the rest of the unconstitutional bullshit. "I locked it down" he says, but then blames the governors when numbers roll in of millions of jobs lost and half of all small business is gone for good. Then the asshole renews it, months after the awake figure out it's all a hoax. Warp speed Trump is an enemy of the people, and he just set your ass up to be treateded as a domestic terrorist. He's not a Hitler, more like Stalin or Churchill. |

Issued on: January 11, 2021 Today, President Donald J. Trump declared that an emergency exists in the District of Columbia and ordered Federal assistance to supplement the District’s response efforts due to the emergency conditions resulting from the 59th Presidential Inauguration from January 11 to January 24, 2021. The President’s action authorizes the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to coordinate all disaster relief efforts which have the purpose of alleviating the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local population, and to provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures, authorized under Title V of the Stafford Act, to save lives and to protect property and public health and safety, and to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe in the District of Columbia.
