Here's the trick. Before the announcement of the coronavirus epidemic, people who showed up at those hospitals, with flu, flu-like symptoms, lung infections, pneumonia would be placed in the general wards and treated, or even sent home with drugs.

But now they would, many of them, be called "presumptive cases" of coronavirus, without any tests at all, or after tests which don't work (see my prior articles on why the diagnostic tests are useless and deceptive). By labeling these patients "contagious coronavirus," the hospital doctors are forced to send them to the ICU, to "protect others from the infection."

Thus, these ICUs are crowded and overflowing.

The press publishes pictures of the ICUs and the hysteria factor bubbles up a few degrees hotter.

Well said, OP. This virus is basically the common cold with a fancy name. All this "exponential growth" talk is nothing but hysteria. These things fizzle out well before the apocalyptic doom scenarios that we are warned of. The final numbers will at worse be similar to a normal flu season. We don't cancel everything and collapse the economy over the flu. People will look back at this and realize how stupid it was.

Things are getting better, at long last, in China because millions, sick or healthy, were confined by law with strict safety measures (masks, gloves,...). The West is already doing worse in daily cases than China at the height of the epidemic, because we are not willing to do the same and if we persist we'll be sorry.

We, the US, are not China. Do not expect the US authorities to do the same as the Chinese authorities. And don't expect our citizen to do anything other than what they f'n want to do.
