FFS,

bsflag

You just don't get it do you...

What use is having a business if there is going to be no one to run it? This is a major disaster happening.

Ask the same question in 5 weeks, lol.

Remember if they did nothing they would kill millions, not 5000.

At this point they are only trying to slow it down so the medical system is not overwhelmed.

The inability of you dumb arses to understand exponential growth blows my mind. Let me explain it to you like you’re a child, ok?

One month ago, Italy had 3 cases. Now they have more than 21,000 cases.

1 person infected 5 to 10 other people, depending upon their age. The 20-30 year old bracket, for example, if healthy has the longest asymptomatic period while still being contagious. Understand that here: [link to twitter.com (secure)]

So, unless something is done about New York City relatively quick, the infections in the city will grow like this:

March 13: 421
March 18: 8,459
March 23: 31,304
March 25: 52,736
March 28: 114,791
and so forth...

Source for that: [link to medium.com (secure)]

OP doesn’t have the brainpower to comprehend this, so hopefully it helped someone else.

in the real world (Diamond Princess cruise ship), it actually was not nearly as dire as the the fear mongers were saying it would be. Less than 20% became infected (under optimal spread consitions), and most not seriously ill. 7 died, for a .2% death rate.

What you don't comprehend is that 99% of people with it won't die.
It's only the really old/sick/underlining serious condition that should be worried.

The cards were set to destroy all nations that bought the lie of usury.

The Chinese tried paper money 3k years ago.

It didn't work.

Now the USA did just fine on gold and silver but that requires actual work to get.

Greedy people want gain without work so they gamble in sticks and practice usury because they are lazy fucking parasites.
The conservatives voted for a liberal that spent money we don't have on shit we don't need like giving billions to Isreal.

You voted for this destruction.

Enjoy it throw a party you voted against God and are getting your just deserve.

Re: Is it really worth it to ruin the financial livelihood of 200 million to save 5,000?
The math on all this doesn't add up. Response doesn't fit the official figures...

Either the real figures are much worse and they are lying to us - or - (which I think is personally more scary) there is some other reason for the response they are doing. I honestly don't know what to make of all of this, all I know is this is not adding up.
 Quoting: SwampCreature

It doesn’t add up if you think linearly.

Look, I get it, as humans we think linearly. It’s our nature. Our ancestors picked apples from the three, they wanted more apples so they planted more. 1+1=2, 2+2=4.

Yeah, 413 infections, why would you shutdown the financial center of the word? It’s going to be 420, then 430, not worth it, right?

Except that’s not the right math.

The math goes more like this: 1 person infected 5, they infect 5, and they infect 5, so 1, 5, 25, 125, etc. This virus under normal conditions doubles every 6 days. In NYC, with a dense population and a lot of people in the 20-30 age range (the “super spreaders” who take the longest to show symptoms and thus are infectious the longest without symptoms).

The real numbers are these, with a slash to denote between worst case/best case:

March 18: 4,755 / 8,459
March 23: 17,621 / 31,304
March 25: 29,725 / 52,736
March 28: 64,964 / 114,791

Gentlemen I hope that I don’t come off as a pompous prick but really, this is how data science works, this is how viruses work, and if you can understand it then everything else makes sense.
 Quoting: Shaun Kaven

These are the same guys and gals who have been saying "nothingburger" or "just the flu" since the beginning. Most people in the world don't believe fire burns, they need to actually hold their hand over it and be burned to understand - that is the majority of humanity. Some will see that fire hurts because it's burning others, so they avoid it without having to be injured themselves, this is a smaller group of people who are wise. And only a few in our human population have foresight to see and prepare for things in advance - these are the ones who typically survive a paradigm shift. The others that complain are noise - even though its sad that they will most likely not make it, those that are wise should ignore them.
