This attitude that the "elderly are expendable" is just
so tragic to me.

If anyone should be at the TOP of the emergency treatment
list it should be the older people given that they are
a source of our history and a rich resource of decades of
learned wisdom. Of course, this doesn't apply 100% across
the board, but I think taking this attitude about them being
a burden on society is just very wrong.

Many folks in their middle years were RAISED BY THIR
GRANDPARENTS and saved from miserable lives by often times
selfish and addicted middle aged parents--who would be
the first "saved" in the line according to this attitude.



Think about a world where there are NO GRANDMAS AND GRANDPAS.
Do we really want such a world?

It isn't that they are expendable. The reality is that the majority of them are physically unable to withstand the treatment. There is a reason why most elderly in nursing homes are coded DNR. Frankly, I wouldn't put my 80 year old mother through that sort of thing. Not sure I would want it for myself either.

This. Average age of nurses is 50 years old. Grandparents are needed. Everyone is needed. Why are some people so cruel in thinking older people are not needed or wanted in society?
