I don’t work at a hospital but in a nursing home in the DFW area. We are in lockdown right now. No visitors are allowed in at all. Some one is posted at the door at all times and each worker who comes in is screened. The residents are no longer allowed to eat in the dining room, they have to eat in their rooms. We have no N95 masks only the surgical masks. I worry about when our supplies start getting low and the trucks stop delivering. So far nobody is sick in our facility and I pray it stays that way. Truth is though if the virus does infect the facility it will be because one of the workers brought it in and they showed no symptoms.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76001926 How many alternate staff do you have? You could put everyone on 12 hour shifts, slightly increase CNA to patient ratios and cut everyone down to one shift every 4 or 5 days to decrease the chance of anyone entering the facility while symptomatic. Or do 36 hour rotations like doctors, again, every 4 or 5 days. That way they'd most likely be symptomatic before they came in, and if they had been exposed just before working, they'd probably not be in the viral replication phase. Not sure what your numbers are or how many extra staff it would take. I know it's not legal in most outlets to only assign one CNA per 60 patients, but this is for their protection in an apocalyptic environment.
