Anonymous Coward User ID: 76909341 Netherlands 03/17/2020 04:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What's going to happen when this all blows over and people are needing to dump all their gold/silver so they have money again? Quoting: GA Girl That's not usually how it works, not like flipping. Actually that is usually how it works. In times of panic, everybody converts to cash. Portfolios (see stock indices), precious metals (see gold last week). You load up in peaceful times. At least, that's what big money did over the last years. Charts speak for themselves. Also, look what happened ~10 years ago. Many retailers bought the top because their hairdresser told them about the insane value of gold. And silver is an industrial metal, and the price confirms it. It hasn't been a precious metal in recent history. You'd have to go back decades. |

Callin User ID: 78551315 United States 03/17/2020 04:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They usually are in times of crisis/panic. Some people prefer to hoard silver/gold for a time of crisis, and some people prefer to hoard other items (food/alcohol/tobacco/ammo/etc.). There are 3 possible scenarios: 1. This blows over in 2-8 weeks (or pick a timeframe) and society starts rebuilding back to the way things were. 2. This persists over a long extended period of time and society completely collapses. 3. This lasts <insert time frame here> and society is forever changed, although still quasi-functional, it may never regain it's former status. Then ask yourself in which of those 3 scenarios will gold/silver be a lot more wanted than it is right now?...in other words will the demand be greater than other things people need/want? The lower silver goes the more it is worth. Quoting: silverbird We call that a manipulated market. Once it decouples from the paper silver idiots have been buying it will shoot up to 100 an ounce, assuming gold doesn't skyrocket, which it will. Look for silver to stabilize around $250 in about a year. |

They aren't really "sold out". The prices are dipping so low that they would be selling it to you for less than they paid for it. Rather than take a loss, they say they're "sold out". If prices jumped up to $25 per ounce for silver and $2000 per ounce for gold tomorrow, they would "magically" have lots of new stock that suddenly arrived from the mints and refineries...
