Re-using disposable masks.
I didn't bulk buy masks because I had a some N95 on hand from a home renovation project.

I haven't used them yet, but will probably be breaking them out soon as we are just getting the first couple cases in our area.

I'm going to reuse them so I don't run out.

I can spray with Hydrogen Peroxide, soak in rubbing alcohol, or stick them in my UV phone cleaner box.

I am leaning towards spraying with Hydrogen peroxide, followed by ten minutes under the UV.

I also considered putting them in the toaster oven at 250 degrees or boiling them, but I think those methods would destroy the construction of the masks

What seems best?

On my fb, some doctor said at his hospital, they only reuse them 5 times.

Not sure if they degrade or get too dirty?

The virus doesn't live that long on fabric. You can always spritz with light coating of bleach/water if you are worried and then switch them out every couple of days. But really, if you are quarantined with the rest of the country in your house, why do you need masks?

I was going to spray mine with alcohol, then reuse them. But hydrogen peroxide would also work, as long as the fabric dries out before reusing.

140 degrees Fahrenheit kills the Virus from what I have read. So using a Blow Dryer on high heat for a min or two inside then outside should do the trick. 1dunno1

Yeah, limiting contact, but total at home quarantine won't happen for my family until they close the hospitals and tell everyone to get well at home.

I'm loving that suggestion. Light Hydrogen Peroxide spray, dry on high with blow dryer then UV light and ready to go.
