Don't Be Evil User ID: 221040 United States 08/30/2007 03:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Go and ask your boss if this was a personal slight and if he meant to make you look bad in front of the others as a form of harassment. Be dramatic and pull out a tape recorder and tell him that you are recording the whole thing, just in case you need it later... It will both be funny and insure your job for a while, as firing within a year of such a thing really would look like harassment... :) It was likely just that they didn't realize you were missed or something along those lines, but just in case... All power is largely an illusion. :) |

Urban Dictionary: 1. gone postal refers to becoming violent and killing random people. mike smith got fired and the papers said he had gone postal, rushing into the office and shooting off his gun, killing four and injuring two before turning the gun on himself. |
Bendude User ID: 290702 Australia 08/30/2007 04:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You haven't already because you wonder about your value to the company and if this is a form of criticism. No they just missed you. So your options are: 1) be paranoid that everyone thinks you suck. 2) Go to supervisor and ask "Oy, what ever happened to my tote bag?" Has anyone else noticed this elephant in the lounge room ? Another block of writing from Elephant full of supposition and condescension whilst saying pretty much nothing. - EggNigma 2/2/2011 |

Then stomp out off his office and slam the door so hard it makes the picture of his astranged gay son fall off his office floor next to that stain where that new guy brought him coffee but the sonofabitch thought it wasn't warm enough and when the boss tried to take a sip he couldn't help but burn the mother-fuck out of myself. |

Quoting: gruntled worker 248917is there a polite way to ask for a gift? and i'm not sure that's what i even want to do. I know how that feels If you say something you risk showing that it matters, and if you say nothing your inner child feels sad and it is demotivating. I don't think you were forgotten for any reason, and the only person who can reassure you at this stage is yourself. You Could try ask your manager for reassurance ... but that depends on how humane your manager is, and how well you interact. A regular human being should be able to empathise with you. Hope this helps |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 227259 United Kingdom 08/30/2007 07:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That's often the way it starts, an "oversight" here or there. Then you find yourself parked by the door. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 290276If it happens again, start looking. And there is an example of how to create a negative reality by assuming the worst, by manifesting the worst ... OP, you decide that next time you will get something and you'll get it first and that's what you attract and thus create. |
impetigo User ID: 235206 United States 08/30/2007 08:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As a manager, he sucks. If it was an oversight, he sucks. Having been in the workforce a number of years, I know exactly the name of that song. Hold you head up high, take the high road and don't say anything. However, having been in the same position, it doesn't stop, they will always find a way to show exclusion. These are some of the ways emotionally small people feel good about themselves. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 5804 United States 08/30/2007 09:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That's bullshit. I'd march right in to his office and say "why didn't I get a tote bag?" I'd record the entire conversation. If he says something smart ot tries to demean you then say "so you did it on purpose? That's harrassment." |

But isn't it a little unfair to assume the worst? Every manager I've worked with in my career has been human and just as apt to make mistakes as the rest of the work force. A tote bag in the grand scheme of things is relatively small ... to some people it wouldn't matter and to others it does. The reason is not because its an overt action to belittle someone, its usually a subtle sense of worthlessness magnified by the feeling of being forgotten. Anybody who feels good about themselves by making someone feel bad, is a very broken person. I know they exist, but they deserve to be approached directly, politely and reasonably ... if they get their jollies out of making people feel bad then this approach should take the focus off you for a bit ... |

Remember you are at work to work not for getting gifts. You are lucky you got anything. If you don't like it leave. There are so many pissy complaining jerk offs in the workplace that it makes me sick. WORK IS WORK SIR. Complaining that you did not like your gift.......how pathetic. Go ask for a gift I hope you get fired for being a puss. |
