The bad news:

* Recession/depression
* Stay at home/in place lockdowns
* Bankruptcy/Failing of restaurants and small businesses
* Fresh food will be like gold
* Supply chain shortages
* Buildup of uncollected garbage
* Discarded mattresses and bedding from the dead
* More deaths from "minor" injuries or illnesses because hospital full of virus victims or lack of other medical supplies
* Trucks and trains hijacked
* Opportunity murders blamed on the virus (most will get away with it)
* Court system backups
* Looting
* Funeral homes/mortuaries/crematories overwhelmed
* "Bring out your dead" trucks?
* Mass graves
* Many more stray pets, gangs of wild dogs
* More orphans
* FEMA markings on homes (like those after Katrina)
* Everyone will personally have known someone who died

The good news:

* People will appreciate their friends and loved ones more
* More online education
* Some version of "Medicare For All" or government paid health care is likely, because most people will not be able to pay for their hospital bills
* All medical debts likely to be forgiven
* All student loans likely to be forgiven
* Possible population growth by healthy people having babies because they don't have access to contraceptives and also might be bored so they have more sex
* Good people will show compassion, will "adopt" and care for stray pets and orphans
* "Conspicuous consumerism" will be out
* Most people will learn to be more thrifty and "reduce, reuse, repair, recycle"
* More people will become more self-sufficient in growing gardens, learning to preserve their food, hunting
* Small communities of survivors will arise and grow closer to each other
* People with skills will be more valued
* Without having to go to work, people will have more time to read, learn crafts and skills, be more creative
